When I was a little kid, one of my daddys friends shoued me LBA 1! I've just played once in his home (just got out of the hospital where Twinsen is at start )!
A few years later I saw it in a shelve of a shop and saw the screenshots from behind it's box! I saw a screenshot of the Hospital where Twinsen satrts so I remembered the 1st time I played and bought it!
When I started playing I just got WOW!!! I didn't expected the game to be this cool (I didn't remember too much from the 1st time I played)!
So when I saw LBA 2 in the shelves I bought it and got WOW again !
But then I lost the LBA1 CD so I couldn't play LBA1 anymore!

Same here. I don't remember the exact year, but I believe it was sometime in the mid-90's. Possibly 1994 (?) was when I got the demo on a couple disks. Like wacko, I played through the prison escape so many times. Disected it inside and out. Knew everything about the Citadel and just outside. Great game. Surprisingly, it took several tries to beat the Citadel. Probably what made it so great.

LBA 2 appeared in a magazine and I was so thrilled. I got it for free because my brother works for Raven Software who is owned by Activision and they give their employees 2 free games a year. Since my brother didn't have a decent computer to run games on, he gave it to me. Score!

I remember that when I've first played that game with my cousin, We were quite sure that I was the fan n.1 and she was the n.2... and we were very proud of it.
I couldn't even think that it was so lots of people in love with LBA !
Things have changed today. Thanks to the MBN.

Hehe, I remember the other thread too...

LBA1 was the first computer game I ever bought when we got a new computer. Not a bad introduction, huh?

well, not me.
when i was young, i was admiring in front of the solitaire or deminor (which i really loved), and after, i met a friend who showed me a wonderful game : Privateer 2 The Darkening
it was the first time i saw a so amazing game ! (The Darkening is, if you don't know it, the ancestor of the actual Freelancer, it succeeded to the Wing Commander saga) really, it was a very very good game where you could make space dogfights, trade between planets or spatial stations, escort space freighters (sometimes yours), seek and destroy for specific ennemies, and behind all that, you have to rediscover who you were (cuz you're amnesic), so you had to travel in several planets (and the story was very good).
So, it was a very good game, and at this moment, i thought that will be my better game forever...

months later, a friend recommends me to buy LBA 2. I was still a newbie in the games domain so i hesitated.
but finally, i bought it and it became my favourite game (and it is still right now).
of course, many others games appeared after, sometimes there were very good (outcast, deus ex, GTA 3, age of kings...) but i'm always a great LBA fan and i've at least bought the rest of the saga (LBA for PC, and for PSX)(which is very good)

Talking about the demo, I believe they could have make a better one. It's quite dull, actually.

I remember saying "omg, i love this game"
I think the visuals appealed to me.

No, you play a bit of the beginning (all you can do there is just walk around Citadel Island, because you can't enter any buildings), then the Protection Spell part, and the the Building Company part in Wannies Island.
