Twinsun The Esmers invasion

What was happening to Funky Town, Principal Island and the other places, beside DI and CI under the Esmer's invasion in LBA2?
Was they invaded by Esmer patrols too, or something else?

We don't know anything about that. Maybe we could find out if we went through the pipe in the sewers (NOT).

I suppose they were invaded just as well

I was just going to say that!

I think such threads should go in the LBA Plot Holes thread.

Somewhere in the game a person tells you "they've landed on several islands"

several just means more than one. it could be all islands, it could be all. The have no reason to occupy Twinsun anymore, they've got the wizards and children and no Twinsunian has a spaceship.
(except for Baldino)

so, actually, they needen't be there at all when Twinsen returns from Zeelich.

no, FunFrock clearly states at the end of the game that Twinsen was part of his plan. He needed Twinsen to collect the fragments for him, which on itself is a plothole, he could have had the soldiers gotten all of them.

I don't think so, he would come to Zeelich to rescue everyone anyway. I think it's a plothole

Why were they there? To kidnap some people and make it look like they were really evil, so Twinsen would try to save the day, accidentally helping DM/FF in his evil plan.

there was no need for that. Twinsen already had to go get the key fragments, because he knew about the plan to destroy Twinsun.

Indeed!A evil plan is even more evil if you let your enemy execute it and suffer. :P

I remember going to the harbor after the Esmers landed and thinking, "Great, now I can go to Principal or Proxima Island now." When I got there and I could only go to Desert Island I was like, "What?! Only one other island. You've GOT to be kidding me!" And when I looked on my holomap, it was painfully obvious the other islands were not going to be used in the game. Sucked!

WTF?! there is no plot hole.
They wanted to capture him from the very begenning, it is obvious, because that's what they did the moment they could.

"That's the Twinsunian we're looking for"

UFO

Funfrock did not need Twinsen to find the key fragments but it was incredibly useful to Funfrock that Twinsen did that for him. As for the occupation of the islands after the kidnappings, I think they were looking for Twinsen to satisfy Funfrock's twisted thirst for revenge.

but wtf is a "plot hole" ??

i think funfrock never needed the twinsen's help for getting all the keys. he was a real threat for the funfrock's army. indeed, the wannie key was already sought under sup commandment, franco paras were fighting on the mosquibee island for its key and the sups obviously never wanted to see their key getting away in twinsen's hands. Concerning francos, it is clear now that funfrock prefered leave francos searching themselves, before steal it when they would find it. therefore, i believe funfrock never added twinsen in his plans to get all the keys : he had gotten all the emperor's army for that. So, when he said to twinsen that he had been manipulated, it was a trick to don't lose the face 'cause of the twinsen's extraordinarly conquests !

A plot hole is when there are parts of the storyline contradicting itself

My guess is that FF's idea to utilise Twinsen came after Twinsen already found some fragments. That the soldiers are still looking is just to make sure that sudden change of plan wouldn't cause any suspicion.

Also, if FF/the Empire would have instructed the soldiers to get it all, they a) wouldn't get any corporation b) would rise even more suspicion.
AND, probably FF was also trying to double cross the Empire (you really think the empire would have agreed with this if he wasn't promised at least a fraction of the power of the SE?) and couldn't just nick his fragment without, again, causing suspicion.

Good point Atresica, Funfrock couldnt afford to make the people worry even somewhat about his true motives and identity, which probably would have happened if he made such demands. Ho to boost their confidence in him he would have to look like the one who would save them from the "evil" Twinsen that was stopping Zeelich from becoming a paradise. But I still think that revenge was some part of the continued search.
