Best video game to movie adaptation?

Personally I think that Mortal Kombat (1995) is a masterpiece, but I imagine I'm more or less alone on that front. Other than that, the first Resident Evil movie was pretty good (the other ones are shit).

Besides those two I can't think of any movies that were any good.
Any ideas?

I love the Mortal Kombat movies, the Goro character was awesome.
The Phoenix Wright movie is ok, but I think only fans of the videogame can approciate it. It's hard to explain, but I think that Phoenix Wright is so loyal to the videogame, that if it was just a movie (and not a videogame adaptation) it would be a bad movie. Everyone would be wondering "why do they look manga characters? Why do they scream like that?". But, as it is, it is probably the most loyal adaptation ever, and an enjoyable movie, if you know the videogame. It's hard to say which is better, but if loyalty was the only parameter of judgment, I'd say Phoenix Wright is the best movie daptation.

EDIT - I almost forgot Doom. I consider the movie quite good in any aspect -

As for the worst adaptation ever, I'd say Hitman. Not only the movie is shit, but agent 47 couldn't be more loud than he is in that movie.

I know people that watched PW with me and they enjoyed it without playing the game.
Criticisms were regarding some of the "metaphorical" camera cuts and shots which confused things unnecessary.

There was also queries as to how universal the humor was too. I personally enjoy crazy/bizarre stuff - so I think Id enjoy it even without knowledge. But certainly its a prerequisite to be able to enjoy something both stupid (visuals/cartoony characters) and serious (plot/complexity/some themes) at the same time.
Probably the same reason I enjoy films like Speed Racer - while some critics are like "who the hell is this aimed at?!" I am like "Its aimed specifically at me"

I haven't seen Hitmen, but I think we are obliged to say Alone in the Dark :P

Yeah, I'd say alone in the dark is a strong candidate for worst adaptation ever.

I don't like Final Fantasy at all but I remember seeing Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and was a nice movie animation.

As other movies probably Tomb Raider are the more popular and also more interesting.

The Spirits Within was certainly nice, even if it did feel a little too Nausicaa inspired for the first 1/4.

Warcraft - I thought the trailer looked great, but reviews have been a bit blah.
Still, rather watch that then Angry Birds :P
