Little Big Adventure 2 (Twinsen's Odyssey) now available on GOG.com

Only a week after the re-release of Little Big Adventure, GOG.com has now re-released Little Big Adventure 2, also known as Twinsen's Odyssey.

As is usual with releases of classic games on GOG.com, you will also get some extras when you buy LBA2 (which will cost you only $5.99). The extras include a wallpaper, various design sketches, another development team photo, and probably the most interesting part: the design script for the game. Sadly (for some), this script is in French.

Note: again the links do not work on the front page. So visit the thread first before you click the link. Or use the "buy from gog" banners at the top.

I've bought it, but didn't try it, though it's safe to assume there's no car bug because it uses DosBox which never had that bug as far as I know.

Has anyone read the script yet? I have (used Google Translate). There are some things they changed in the final version.
Spoiler:
I liked the part when Joe the Elf is tied to a tree in the party at the end (in order not to cause any more trouble) . They should've kept that in. Also, the gameplay was originally intended to be much more linear, the script mentions some restrictions which were eliminated, such as you couldn't use the elevator to go back to the surface or you couldn't visit Celebration Island until reaching a specific point in the game. And there's no mention of the dissidents, Rick or Johnny Rocket, so perhaps they added that plotline later. There are many small differences like that.

Some 640x480 pictures from cinematics I don't remember seeing before and a very high-res version of the "Do you remember your first time?" picture.

Cruel cruel irony, I discover this long after I bought a copy of the physical game. Oh well £3.92 is a steal for a game like this.

they fixed the spelling typo there. I'm downloading the game... I'm curious to know how they fixed the sound problems, car bug, no funny frog patch... Maybe it's the dos version?
Anyway, there's a nice script of the game, I think it's the original one, as it's in french. I guess we can get some nice new info from there!
Wallpaper is the same of LBA1. Poster is the old "Do you remember your first time" one.
And the quick installer seems very useful too.Still doing this only to support the developers.
Anyway, for those who are interested, there's also Beyond good & Evil on GOG with 60% discount this week end... but I can't tell you nothing about the version there, I prefered buying the LBA games.

Yeah, tempted to get BG&E so I can have an action-adventure game binge :P

GoG should do a bundle premotion for the best action-adventure games ever. (well, maybe "best" is a bit too easy, seeing as theres only like 10 games in the genre :P)

I've bought and used it, and yes, there is no car bug! I had no idea what it was like to be able to have full control of the car!

The car bug is caused by FunnyFrog's graphic patch. WIth DosBox the car always controlled fine.

I've just downloaded the game and I'm a little disappointed by the wallpapers. I think they could have done better and not reuse the LBA 1 wallpapers.

Is it caused by FunnyFrog's graphic patch? I've always had problems controlling the car and I never used it.

Actually, in Windows ME you don't need this patch, but I do remember having problems turning the car there.

Now I'm playing the game again using DOSBox, and the car turns just fine.

can anyone who bought the re-release tell me, if there's the same sound glitch as without gog (using dosbox and an original cd) ... i mean the glitch with like 30sec music and so low voices that you can't possibly hear them.

When I first played LBA2, I used win98. I still remember wandering on the island and reading those french conversations over and over again, not understanding one word lol. Soon I found out I could turn on voices and the english language etc, but I never experienced any bug.

It was but for my newest pc, using XP, before I found the car steering bug, wizard bug, etc. It all began with the graphics bug of cource, for which I probably used Funny frog's patch - don't remember which patch I had used. It's really the same installation I'm still using for two years now, haha. But anyway, I have the original LBA2 cdrom for windows, so I never got to use dosbox for that (that came with LBA1)

Totally agree on that.

It's the dos version. Meh, I'm always astonished by the graphics this game has. I can't believe it's from '97. For some reason they didn't like the W key for action/talk and replaced it with z :P

I don't think it has to do with the GOG version; this was also the default key when I installed the game now, while I remember it being W in previous installations. Might be because I installed it in DOS now and not in Windows (as always), although I don't see why that should make any difference.

I've just bought it, but I never used dosbox, so I have no idea what you are talking about . If you explain how to reproduce that bug exactly I can check if it exists.

I almost always played the Windows version (except for a period very long time ago, when my harddisk died, so I ran from a startup diskette, created a ramdisk, and installed LBA 2 there (and it worked!)), since Win XP with the FunnyFrog's patch, and the car was working fine. I have played it again recently, and I was surprised to discover that I could not turn it any more. Also there was a bug in the Gazogem refinery at the last screen: the guy in white gown was stuck at the crank every time he went up the stairs, and the Magicball could not reach him there (at least there was the lightning spell that did the job).

That makes a difference because on French keyboards (which were probably used to develop the game), the W key is in the place of the Z key. The dosbox version probably uses a different way to access the keyboard which is based on the key positions instead of their names.
