I'm moving out of my house!

I have a story I want to share with you:

Okey, I've studied in Lund since 2004, but I've lived with my parent (who is often abroad) in our house in Strandbaden outside Höganäs for all of this time. I've been going 70 minutes by bus/train almost every day for all this period. (Imagine the resources that have been threwn away in this massive time waste). I've slept at friends or relatives in the area around Lund every now and then during this time, so I have been able to go out and party/taking evening courses/being voluntary associated (in connection with the university) when I wanted during this period, so it hasn't been an enormous problem to not live here.

But last sunday I came home after a weekend in Lund, and it was (as usual) dark, cold and empty in Höganäs, and then I thought "OK, Im gonna go online to see if there is a fucking flat to get NOW" (I have been queueing for a place to live in Lund for some time). And there was, and I just clicked it and the next morning I recieved a pdf contract in the mail. Yesterday, I signed it, and the 2nd april I'm moving out.

It is fucking bizarre, because this week I've felt like almost like flying. I feel free. I could not imagine that I wanted to move out and live on my own this much, but apparently I did.

So why didn't I move out before? Well, I guess that I've just been lazy, I've planned to do it for like 2 years but I "haven't been arsed"...

And I'm really happy that I took this decision!

I'm moving to a flat in a "corridor", I will share kitchen with 9 other students. It is located in a big "students' zone", where 1000 people live. I have several friends in this location, so it will be nice. I am also invited to a party tomorrow on the floor above my future home, so I will get to see how it looks. It will be interesting.

And, in addition, spring is coming to the south of Sweden! Very nice!

Hey, that's awesome .
I have one of the biggest unis in the country about 700 meters from my home, so I don't have a problem like that - but man I'd wish to have a flat of my own somewhere in the vicinity, but that's very doubdfull, There's absolutely no funds for that... and it's the strict center of the city so the rents are even 3 times bigger then in the suburbs, altough I wouldn't ever, never swap living in the city center for the suburban areas.

Congrats! :)
I know how you feel with the waste of time/money, I have the waste of time issue as well at the moment (no waste of money though, because as a soldier I can use public transportation for free).
And I know how you feel with the freedom, in my house there's always somebody and sometimes I wish I had my own place that no one walks around.

It's probably going to be fun to live with lots of other students that share your lifestyle and can be understanding friends.

Once again, congrats.

Thanks, guys!!

Flamingo: Well, money-wise this is bad for me. It is cheaper to live at home than paying rent etc. I payed like 75 Euro at home, and 90 Euro for the travelling each month. Now I will pay €300 rent and food and all that. But that doesn't matter! It will be nice.

Aule: Do you realize that you and I now uphold the MBN diplomatic relations with Sweden? One head in the two main unis etc.

Nice to hear Gustav! I have quite a similar story myself on moving out. Happily living on my own for almost a year now. I only have three "corridor-mates" which is nice, I sometimes get to see kitchens shared with 12 people and it's often kinda icky

wacko: Yeah, this is a 9-man-kitchen, but I've been at the floor above (I have a friend who lives there) and their kitchen was the most fresh corridor kitchen I've ever seen, so I am optimistic!
ANakin: It really is!
Atresica: Thanks!
Bomba!: I've been living alone with my mother, so I guess that the house will be very empty now that I'm leaving. But she'll cope, I hope! I plan to come home a couple of times/month as well, and I'm at home in the summer.

5 days left.. A friend of mine will help me on tuesday by transporting the essential stuff in his car (stereo, clothes, books, etc). I hire the furniture (bed, chairs, table, bookcase, wardrobe) so there are not so many things to move.

THanks, guys!

Are you moving as well, Alexfont?

This has been my primary home since 1989 (my first years were passed in Limhamn, Malmö). This room has been my bed room where I've spent 99% of the nights. And this is the last night, bizarre... And soon it has turned into morning. A new morning. Which is the title of Suede's last album.. It opens with the song Positivity. That's what I feel now, I think.

I have been organizing tomorrow's trip all night, packing down stuff and cleaning the house - my mother comes back from Ireland soon.

I was in the corridor today and inspected it and put some food there, and met two of my new neighbors and had some noodles... It was very nice! Very fresh kitchen, the most fresh I've seen in a students' corridor. Apparently they renovated it all in 2004.
