They worked on another game that was supposed to be Fallout 3, but it got canceled when it the work on it was almost done. Fallout 3 was an entirely different game.

Knytt Stories Beta release for the DS ;
http://rodrigoroman.com/rrc2soft/nds_dsknytt.html

Tried it out, it works great! PC Modules loaded just fine (using my GBAMP).
You need to convert the music if the modules use custom music, but apart from that its pretty nicely done.

Lylian is a sidescrolling, action/adventure game initially for the PC.
My favorite game is from that genre. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten enough team mates to finish it.

Long live sidescrolling action/adventure games.

Lylian looks nice, but it also looks kinda low on the "adventure" part of "action-adventure".

In 2005, Remedy Studios released a cinematically captivating trailer for Alan Wake. The story revolved around a writer who loses his wife and comes to a faraway town in order to forget his past.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE1ITZA9Odg&feature=fvw

Five years later they redesign the story in order to fall back on one of the most over-used cliches in gaming history: rescue the princess. Seems his wife is alive, comes with him to the town and gets captured by the big baddies. What a pitfall.

Quote:
Alan Wake, a bestselling writer, has not written anything in over two years. Now his wife, Alice, brings him to the idyllic small town of Bright Falls to recover his creative flow. When she vanishes without a trace, Wake finds himself trapped in a nightmare. Word by word, his latest work—a thriller he cannot even remember writing—is coming true before his eyes.
Also, Microsoft announced 10 days ago that it will not ever release it on Windows.

Quote:
On February 12, 2010, Microsoft announced the game would not be available on the Windows platform, stating that playing on the 360 would be "more compelling."

Looking at the beginning of this thread when I made it years and years ago, not a single game even came close to meeting my lowest expectations. I here by refuse to wait or look at any upcoming games because in the end, they will all bloody likely be nothing but tripe.

That's sad.

There's this very wrong attitude that "people are stupid" so we should not make anything smart or different. I'm not saying that people aren't stupid, but I am saying that it's the wrong attitude.

Probably will end up on windows. Its no effort to port, just they figure they can get some 360 premotion out of it or something.

I want project offset to come out already! Been waiting for it too goddamned long!

http://www.projectoffset.com/index.p...d=58&Itemid=12

Or Rage... and they better release the editors for them!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnBPqrhY3hw

Does anyone know of an editor (or a blender plugin... preferably) that would allow me to work on models like this?? With prefabs and texture stamps??

I thought project offset was canceled? I know they got bought out, then there was no news for ages...havnt followed it since.
Certainly looked cool though.

Interestingly Rage and Offset use pretty different techniques. Almost opersite.
Offset using procedurals and schematically made textures/materials and even object variation. (much like the 3d modelling software "Houdini")

Rage doing more a "smart brute force" approach, with scalable textures divided into multi-resolution variable textures. Certainly making it nice to design for.
Affaird I dont know of any plugin for blender or anything else. I think thats possibly because engines for 3d modelling software dont work very compatible to that method. (possibly would need to support multiple sets of UVs on the same model on the view-port? I think... I've certainly never seen varying resolutions within the same model view-port in a 3d program... normally if you have multi-texturing it seems collapsed down internally before its displayed).

Well I found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6R_65BvL_bw
I never knew texture painting was so advanced in Blender.
The whole character is painted 100% in Blender - I wonder if you can add brushes and paint with textures too.

Of course it all gets collapsed into a single texture file, and you need to UVmap it properly. Still it looks cool

And it seems to me that project offset is still going.

It's pretty obvious that it has been show for those who care about the game, but here's the Super Mario Galaxy 2 trailer anyway:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ni...er-mario/62270

I can see, darkflame, what you feared when it was first announced - it does look very very similar to the original game. That can't be bad, but it just won't be as revolutionary and unique the second time.

Exactly. I'm sure it will be fantastic, and a must-buy.
But its still a "cheap" sequel.

But anyway, check out that DS demo!

That DS demo is pretty cool, especially the letters game, though - like the Wii - it looks like a nice trick I (personally) would get bored with after a few hours.

Imho, that feature would add to all games though.
Its not the game I'm interested in, but headtracking in general. I think it would massively benefit games like Metroid particularly.
If the DS can do it the home consoles have no excuse

Scribblenauts 2

Quote:
- Game will have 10,000 new words (adjectives)
- 120 levels
- Controls, level editor to see an improvement
- Hint system changing
- No more par system
- More of an emphasis on adjectives, merits
- Releasing fall 2010
- 5th Cell the developer once again
- Only for DS
- Will have d-pad controls as well as stylus controls
- Camera fixed
- Big psychics update
- Levels revamped, improved, deeper in content
- Players can string adjectives together
- Some new words besides adjectives
Sounds like Scribblenauts version 2.0 more than a sequel. I still haven't played the first one though.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom looks really cool, it's a platform game starring a time traveler who has to interact with his past self.

Unfortunately it's only for Xbox 360

Aren't there 4564578 games with the same concept?

I don't know, name one. ...maybe the original Rayman, you had to interact with your evil shadow of the past in the Candy Kingdom, it was pretty cool.

I've seen quite a few on Newgrounds, one of them being The Company of Myself (which is interesting to play regardless to the gameplay btw).

Just start jumping over the pit while pressing Space in mid-air, at some point you'll have lots of clones and with some luck you'll get past it. Took me around of minute of doing that till I got past it.
