It's set up to be user friendly and nice-looking, everything else is of no real significance... unless it would be anything more then a minor drain.

Graphical effects are for those who can do mathematical calculations with 1 significant number.

Your artistic side seems to be so infinitely small that it would give George Cantor a stroke.

FYI, I spoke FOR graphical effects.

What I mean is that it takes no CPU. So every modern computer can have it without losing any CPU power of significance.

We must fail at all math-related terms then .

Interesting point though. My best friend told me to take a good videocard (512MB RAM or more) because Vista Aero would run smoothly then.

Aero doesn't use that much at all. Works fine on my laptop's 256MB, and I'd bet it works on 128MB just as well.

I thought that in Vista, Aero is disabled if you have less than 512 RAM (IIRC), and you can only enable it through some hacks. (but apparently I'm wrong.)

I think he was talking about video RAM.

Anyway, I just find Vista's visual style ludicrous. And I generally favour performance over eyecandy. I just dumped this little tool that would tell me whether my laptop's caps lock key was activated (it doesn't have special key leds)... it always took around 13MB of RAM. 13MB of RAM for something to tell me whether my caps lock key was off or not? Come on.

In Windows there's an option (in Control Panel/Accessibility Options) to notify you when CapsLock/NumLock/ScrollLock (wth is ScrollLock anyway) turn on and off.

Oh yeah maybe I should've been clearer. The point actually was that Aero doesn't use that much at all. It's a pretty small 'light' script. (I do remember something about using pixelshader 2.0 btw)

It's the core of vista, what makes it tick. Unless it's XP with a vista skin .
