Discworld Noir's one of the few games that can make claim to a mise en scene, and was also probably the most 'Pratchettean' of all three, I think. It's a real shame there aren't any more - rather tragic that point-and-click games in general have pretty much died out.

Eric Idle's acting is nothing short of amazing and gave Rincewind's character the perfect voice.
I agree that Eric Idle was just perfect for Rincewind, yes. He could also play the character well in live action, even now, IMO. Speaking of which, it's a pity Spike Milligan and Peter Cushing are both dead - they would be my ideal casting for Windle Poons and Vetinari, respectively.

Dunno, he is a little too old really for live action.
Allthough he would have been, like, 50 times better then David Jason. -sigh-
Jason made a great Albert, but really didnt fit Rincewind despite doing his best.

Hopefully that are more sensible with the casting of Going Postal. (the next one to be converted for TV).

Your a few years out of date there :P
Point and Clicks did die out, but in the last 2 years theres been a flood.

Mainly but not exclusively thanks to www.telltalegames.com games, who brought back Sam & Max and have so far released two seasons of eppisodes. (as well as Point and Click games based on Bone, and a potentialy very cool Wallace and Gromet game P&C in development)

Then theres been Tunguska, Runerways, a new Broken Sword, A Vampyre Story, Anke, So blond and dozens of others.

Helped a lot by the DS and Wii being good places to port Point and clicks too.
As well as, of course, games on the DS that are practicaly point and clicks anyway; Another Code, being the best example.

I think you could also call Zack & Wiki an advanced point & click game.

Also here in Germany we had some good stuff recently from the German developers, but I don't think they'll get a translation. (not counting Simon IV here )

Since I wasn't really sure about a top 10, I asked myself which games I'd take to a deserted island. Here we go:

1. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 + expansions
2. Final Fantasy VIII
3. Zelda Link's Awakening
4. Serious Sam First + Second Encounter
5. Deus Ex
6. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
7. The Legend Of Kyrandia Trilogy
8. Rollercoaster Tycoon (the first one) + expansions
9. Half-Life series
10. Tales of Symphonia

1. Played it a lot, also online, etc. Love it.

2. Yes, probably the most hated FF game out there and it's my favorite. Why? Probably because it was the first FF game I got and one of my first RPGs. Most of the time it's not the game that's great but the memories you have playing it, and this is such a game for me.

3. Same as FF8, good memories playing this game as a kid. My favorite Zelda game out there.

4. I still pick these up from time to time. I love how it's just a basic shooter without too much added on to it. I just love shooting a lot of stuff down without being frustrated that I'm being killed every 5 seconds having to quickload all the time.

5. One of the best shooters/RPGs/whatever. Great story and so many ways to play the game. Absolutely love it.

6. Best skating game ever. Really fun game.

7. Great adventure games and very open for adventure games as well. You decide what you pick up and drop down out of your inventory. Part three even has multiple ways to solve puzzles. <3

8. Spent a lot of time with this one. Never finished all the expansions and stuff. There's just so much to do in this game..

9. Great FPSes. That's all.

10. One of the best RPGs. Great story and replayability, which is rare for RPGs.

You caught me - I've sort of lost touch with the world (in general, not just games) in the last several years.
Thanks for the info - I'll check out the games you mentioned.

Sure, its worth giving Sam & Max a try to see if you like them, seeing as each epp is pretty cheap.
I'd recomend Tunguska as well. Didnt like Runaway much though.
Last Broken Sword was impressive, but a few dud play mechcanics.
