Hi. I'm DarkOnister.
I come from UK. I like making Music Videos as a hobby, and I find animations and A.I a interesting topic. I did register to this forum quite a while ago. But due to computer problems I lost the link and forgot all about it. Anyway.. I've recently made a LBA2 Spoof, based on the LOTR first movie trailer. It was an idea that came to me yesterday. And I was bored being offline, so I decided to try it out. I've had to improvise in some places, but tell me what you think of it? (PS: I'm not trying to make a joke out of LBA2. I've done spoofs to other games as well. And some of videos are worse than others) To see my videos check out: http://www.YouTube.com/DarkOnister And for this video (LBA2 - LOTR spoof): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Usvxsh9xnpo&eurl= |

Oh I'm going to add this before anybody does comment on this..
I'm not a LOTR fan! ---- I just saw an advert on QVC about rings.. then I remembered the Azumanga spoof on YouTube.. So I thought, why not try doing it with LBA2. The idea came together all at once.. Anyway.. Heres what I put down in a notepad to remind myself of what I was looking for. - You might notice I've improvised or changed some sections because of either text getting in the way, or just not enough clip for it to work. Spoiler: Note: My spoiler above is just the notepad notes I made for making this video. - It kinda is a spoiler though.. Last edited by DarkOnistar; 2007-02-15 at 14:17. Reason: adding more info |

Try again now.
I've just watched it again - after somebody was reviewing different parts. Note: You can quote on the time (YouTube says what part your at, as well as the end time) I have also uploaded this to CrunchyRoll.com However they take ages to approve your videos. (being staffed by no more than 8 in total)

Excelent.
Very well matched up ![]() You should also upload too www.stage6.com imo, because it plays Divx directly, and dosnt transcode at all, the quality is supernb.

divx is lame, oh and stage6 requires a lame ass browser plugin

Its not bad.. But the problem is, that not only do you have to install the plugin. But also my video has to be in DivX format. Not avi format.. But DivX!
And to make it DivX I'm getting made to try and register with DivX.. Its too much hastle. - My videos are in .wmv format. YouTube, CrunchyRoll, DailyMotion & Google Video. Are the places I upload to. - I do add more.. but I've got a list of them on this site: http://DeathWing05.googlepages.com/Videos It needs to be updated obviously, though. - Updated about less than a week ago. ---- Edit: Think I should make a sequel video to that spoof? - I've come up with some ideas to start another project.

Superb compression quality ratio. Much better then any microsoft stuff, anyway. Just about every site on the net you upload videos and it plays in FLASH. Every time you transcode something you lose quality. Raw>WMV>FLASH losing a heck of a lot of quality. Divx gives you basicaly tv-quality in your browser. Not to mention they allow bigger filesizes and resolution. GoogleVideo is a bit better then YouTube, but all these sites are still based on Flash. They are all really quite poor, frankly. Its just wasteing everyones bandwidth. With half the bandwidth they could be double the quality, if only they had better compresion and encodeing. Also, the "browser plugin" is hardly anything, the bulk of the code is in the new versions of the codec itself. (includeing any menus, subs, ect...Im guessing this is also to make it easy to use divx on divx compatible dvd players) Besides, lots of people have "lame ass" quick-times browser plugin, and the windows-media-player browser plugin, and the flash plug in all installed anyway without thinking about it. Really, the quality of stage6 compared to youtube is like a cinema screen compared to a cell-phone camera ![]() Frankly, its a shame people blindly critising them when frankly they should be priased for having the courage to invest in developing a high quality video distribution system. Everything else we got browser-wise sucks*. If...god forbid...divx actualy makes money from their codec by lisenceing it. Why should I care? *Ok, not quite true, I lied. Quicktime embeded with Sorrason3 is great, even better then divx, but very big filesizes. -- Another reason I like stage6; Stage6 allows you to download videos with one button press. Sure, you can use www.keepvid.com to rip videos from elsewhere, but its nice they actualy let you download easily. Quote:
![]() A video can be both Avi and Divx, Divx is just a codec, the container dosnt mater. Dont be confused with divx occasionaly calling their files "*.divx" occasionaly, thats just a minor stupity/act of rebelion on their part. They still work fine in WMP, or any other player thats actualy decent. (Go Vlan! ![]() Really, nothing is "just" Avi. All Avi's will be compresed with a codec. Avi isnt a codec in itself. If you install the divx codec, just like any other codec, any good video programs would be able to covert for you. (or, more to the point, save directly to it). All codecs on your system are accessible to any program that wants to use them. Divx has a freeware converter/uploader, but you can also use Virtual Dub (which is my favorate editor/convertor). Please please, try to stear away from using WMV, its very losey to use as an inbetween format. GoogleVideo,DailyMotion,YouTube...they all convert to flash anyway, so they arnt fussy about format. Fraps >> VirtualDub >> Divx would be my own work scheme. If you need to save inbetween sections, and you have the hard drive space, then this is good codec; http://www.compression.ru/video/ls-codec/index_en.html (completely loseless, like a png. Too big for distribution, but great for editing, I use it for rmp work all the time). Yeah, I may be going overboard with this stuff, but the principle is basicaly that you should never compress something more then once. (unless the compresion is loseless). I hence dont like the way all videos sites I have seen, except divx, force your video to be transcoded.

xvid is way better than divx and FLOSS
avi is a packaging format like mkv or ogg/ogm |

xvid is just an open source version of divx.
Its 99% the same. (And theres the other one too, for that mater, 3ivx or whatever. All the same family. All mp4-u-like ![]() More to this point, however, the xvid community hasnt made a video site. I use Xvid all the time to encode, but thats no reason to think that divx sucks. They want to make money out of it, they think they can make a better video site then whats out there. I say, give them a chance. They seem to have the technical side very much in hand. Imo, the difference is night and day. Allthough, I admit, their website needs a lot of work, even if it is an "alpha".

divx, as codec, has hardly progressed an inch and quality wise divx has lost pretty much everytime from xvid
I'd rather back a FLOSS implementation |

Its the same quality/compresion.
Its only "features" they really differ in, and compresion times. --- Well, put it this way; ![]() http://stage6.divx.com/members/3915/videos/1100084 Still from "Hot Fuzz" trailer on stage6, taken with HyperSnap 6. (purely the hardware frame buffer, no post work). Jpeg set to 90%. This is what youd see fullscreen, if your moniter was that big, basicaly. Pretty flawless compresion, imho. Jaw-dropping for a video site, anyway. ![]() Still from YouTube of the same trailer ![]() (screenshot, jpeg90%) Now, if only stage6 actualy had more decent content. ![]() Seriously, I dont see any reason really not to use Stage6. Its a matrix-fuckload better then anything else out there, and even works fine on my modest 1Mb/s (shared 3 ways). Like Gmail was a quantom-leap above hotmail that forced everyone else to get better, so Stage6 should be for video sites. Argueing that Xvid is better seems a non-issue seeing as their isnt a service like this.

Holy cow.
Very well put together, a lot of work went in to trying to synch voices and sounds with the lba in-shots and movies. Like the customized page flying out the book at the start, that was cool.
