Samantha doesn't have anything to do? Make a "TLBA2: Frequent Caller Edition" where Twinsen is a loving husband with a mobile phone who can call his wife in any situation. Especially if Twinsen can ask: "Hey Zoe, can you tell me about the history of our planet?", or "Hey I'm on the island of the Wannies and it's a bit monotonous. That's not how the lighthouse looks like in LBA 2, at all. LBA 2 clearly has the dirt path continuing to the entrance: .

Though, LBA 2 is itself inconsistent with LBA 1 which has a giant mountain in that place: .

Hence the idea in my mod to have the wizards split the mountain to become the Island of the Dome of the Slate.

Hahaha. I'm still a bit disappointed that nobody agrees that LBA2 would be a better game (and the LBA universe a nicer place to live in) if FunFrock, Rick, the School of Magic headmaster, the Burgermaster, etc. were not all men.

If I just take Ben's quote about her not helplessly waiting to be rescued, then I could also imagine that she gets kidnapped. Then Twinsen searches for her. And then towards the very end when Twinsen's in the Southern hemisphere, she rescues herself and then she has to do a headbutting level in the clone factory while Twinsen destroys the teleportation center. Then in the end they unite in the "final" battle.

I think whether a piece of art/media is good or not is entirely different than whether it inclusive or not.
Having diversity has a good effect socially imho, and also I love seeing things that are different from the norm, but a bad character won't be saved, neither will a good one be spoiled if their attributes get switched around...

Zeelich basically has Napoleon's regime, I mean, it literally has an emperor dressed like Napoleon. Can't expect much female empowerment there.

As for Twinsun, well, after the end of LBA 1, it somehow ended up in a theocratic anti-technological regime run by the Wizards, which I'd compare to how the US would be if the evangelical right fully had their way. I can see why, despite there being at least one female wizard (Tabata), it's ultimately men who call all the shots.

Sendell is the very reason FunFrock does his things in LBA1 and LBA2, without Sendell's POWER (hello, women empowerment complaint office are you hearing? ), the whole thing about digging a well or stopping the lunar reactor would not exist. Meaning, Sendell is THE MOST POWERFUL character in the entire game.

Yes, the queen of the mosquibees is a woman in a leadership role, but it's only by biological necessity, because that's how bees work.

Tabata is a sexualized "reward" for Twinsen and she like Zoe doesn't have any subordinates or all that much responsibility. Though as we've established, LBA2 was progressive for its time in how it portrayed Zoe.

Sendell as far as I know isn't female.

As I said I don't think that's a deal breaker, but it's definitely not in line with the values we have today, so I think it's fair enough for 2.21 to tweak this, so that it doesn't feel outdated. To modern Gen Z gamers, the setting how it currently is would detract from the plot, just like those people also don't get used to "old" movies (from the 90s) who aged badly in those respects.

I don't mind fitting with the new gen, but you can do all that and not change the story.
Zoe = captured, but then give her a cool mission while in jail, or while being kidnapped.
Twinsen = whatever colour he is, just add more colour people on the islands (also aren't the rabbibunny rebels of colour? kropman? )
Add more women in the story, soldiers. Just enlarge the story, don't change it.
