But 2.21 isn't led by misters Raynal and Chanfray, it's led by younger people, they should know better...

From what the people at the top have shared on their linkedin profiles, the answer is NO

https://www.linkedin.com/in/benoitlimare/
https://fr.linkedin.com/in/gwengourevich

They have extensive portfolio dealing with regular business...

I feel confident on the lower hierarchy workers (programmers, 3d artists, level designers, etc) but not on the high-hierarchy (management)
All employees are here:

https://www.linkedin.com/company/2-point-21

Take your conclusions...

I think they haven't disclosed their full names... I found only this webpage with their pictures and surnames, and three Discord profile of Ben and Gwen stating that they founded 2.21, and are the CEO and CTO of it...

edit : Oooh, nice find !
Lol, some of them only show up as "LinkedIn user"

Yeahyeah, sorry I typed my answer before I saw your post
Edited my post to answer you as well.

Yeah, at first glance they seem more specialised in business than in games...

Even when logged in. My profile must be missing some info, so I get auto-filtered out or something.

Oh, ok
Anyway we need a new team to support them:

Neko - executive producer and manager
Reek - content quality supervisor
Battler, Xesf, Lupin - programming
Jasiek and Angelus - 3D artists
CS2x and SGK - sound & music
Elmuerte - the guy who chills everyone and brings the beers
Double-J - visionaire CEO

my vision would be pretty simple:

1. make ONE game (if succes, then other remakes like lba1 and 2, but only if 1 is succes)
2. controls should feel modern, but still would be nice if skills from lba 1 and 2 still apply and feel natural. I probably have to let go of tank control, but i will take that hit
3. game should merge the dark feel of lba 1 with the funkyness and cute feeling of 2, a bit more inbetween.
4. full inclusion of Twinsun, expanded islands with more houses, more rpg like talks and sidequests
5. music by philippe vachey and no one else (sorry guys). LBA 1 & 2 music gets a new mix and master (not a remix, but a new mix of same instruments), but feels like the original. And new music ofcourse.
6. It's LBA 3, but is called Little Big Adventure - Stellar Entity Genesis
7. graphics are modern day quality, but very compatible with how twinsen was portrayed in earlier games, or cutscenes.
8. team should have people from the mbn in it, maybe not all, but bot13 and jasiek seem logical additions

funding:
1. big crowd funding, will not cover the whole game ofcourse, but make us feel involved
2. align with modern indie game strategies (I don't know them), but like you said, stuff is possible - so i believe you. Even release the game in chapters if have to be.
3. try and align with big companies, as I believe Twinsen could be a global gaming brand. But this step is optional, as I do not know if we can do it without a big publisher / owner in the background.

LBA 3 should have the same engine and the same technology as LBA 1 and LBA 2, but maximally improved, to be runnable from DosBox, and if not, at least Unreal Tournament 2004 should be used, since each retail copy of UT2004 contains complete set of editing tools.

something concerning here is the number of positions of people who aren't actually working on the game directly (i.e. programmer, modeler etc.)

say you're a CTO in a company who in 1.5 years has only produced an alleged prototype (we've never seen it), what the hell do you actually do all day? i don't understand how this amounts to a full-time job

I endorse Unreal Tournament 2004 since its retail version contains Linux executable, thus even if LBA 3 will be made on Windows, final LBA 3 will be able to run BOTH on Windows and Linux.

you are alone in this, it absolutely makes no sense whatsoever. so you can stop advertising views no one will endorse

I do not want LBA 3 to be locked to hostile Windows above Windows 7, which is unable to be configured to Windows 95 interface, and unable to be activated offline by DAZ loader, of course against legally bought original copy!

noted, but will never happen and makes commercially no sense whatsoever.

Yup, also pretty much any modern game engine has support for modern Linuxes and Macs. Including the Unreal Engine with ca. 20 years of improvements over the 2004 version.

I'd say it's OK if they work in a co-working space with other game developers. Otherwise the productivity of the one programmer will go down a lot from having to figure out solutions to problems on his own. For the CTO, she might not bring much to the table, but I assume that Ben and Gwen have enough savings that they can do a few years without needing to earn anything, so this bloat doesn't really hurt (and they've shown some skills despite all the chaos, for example I think a programmer loner would have a hard time navigating the legal stuff and communication necessary in open-sourcing the original games).

@Neko: Your vision sounds good (except as I said before, I don't like the name ). Let's see with how much of it they'll agree. With Paulo they already have one MBNer on board, right? I don't know how active he was in the past.

Doesn't seem like it would happen, even if they were working on LBA3, Vachey is not on the team

What do you mean? I think its Philippe the guy who will work with them on the remasters:

We hope you are as happy as we are! And of course, the development of the reboot continues, but in a time frame that matches the ambition we have built.
