Why is LeBorgne so popular?
I see LeBorgne mentioned often on the forum, even though the game doesn't give anything away about him other than that he was a pirate. There are so many characters in the game that seem more interesting, where we also know more about them, like the old wise man of Desert Island, Baldino, and Bersimon, yet these characters seem to get mentioned less frequently.
How comes? LeBorgne fans, what intrigues you about that character? |

All pirated versions of LBA iso files available online have screwed musical tracks, only making iso from own original CDs by using ImgBurn guarantees correct musical tracks!

Can we stop the offtopic responses, that have little or nothing to do with the original topic? Would be nice

LeBorgne in france means TheOneEyed.
I think he's so popular, because he's not very present in the game, leaves room for imagination. Same with Hégésippe, but no fan project where you play as LeBorgne ![]()

Bersimon is the weather wizard, yes. I think all these mysterious characters are exactly what makes LBA so interesting!
You actually want to know them, know everything about them. Unlike many JRPGs where pretty much everyone you talk to seems like a clone of one another. LBA was so unique at its time. Really marvellled any kids imagination. Adults alike.

To go along with what SGK has said, I think LeBourgne is referenced here on MBN because there isn't much known about him, and his name is involved in an important anecdote from the games. We've collectively filled in the gaps with our imagination.
Also, he's a pirate, which is of course universally cool, as CiB indicated. |

Makes sense. Also the museum heist is so thrilling, that it gives us maybe more of an emotional connection to him.

![]() Is the hologram in the cauldron Tabata or is it just a generic sexy Quetch that could also be the one in Chez Luc? Is there any precedent in other works or in mythology about wizards conjuring up women or about creating holograms using a cauldron? If it is Tabata, how do you think he got his hands on her hologram? |

I don't know about mythology, but a prank of a magician bringing a beautiful woman out of a hat instead of a rabbit has been done: (this comes from my personal archives extracted from the epic adventure game Flight of the Amazon Queen)

I've always thought that quetchette was Zoé, and that's why the weather wizard was embarrassed when Twinsen saw it.
In retrospect, the scene would be way more awkward, and I was just too innocent back when I first saw it ![]()

Do you think there's a connection between that you have this wish and that you also wish that the reboot won't be woke? In that you don't like to be reminded of the vices in the real world while you're playing a game, either by the game being woke or, totally opposite, by the game showing characters who are sexist or racist and Twinsen playing along?

Well Twinsen does get happy when he sees the hologram in-game... I mean, what bloodhound described was genuinely how I interpreted it as a kid (maybe minus the sexualised part)
![]() The wizard names sound Belgian to me, apart from that, no idea. The architect and his son are a clear reference to Mies van der Rohe since they even share the name...

I thought the hologram was of Tabata? And Twinsen himself is shown not really able to resist the real deal - she kisses him twice (once when he saves all the wizards and once at the end of the game).

To be fair, French people kiss each other all the time. From such a low-poly model I guess we can't really know. The ear-rings and the skirt length match Tabata.

Yeah, a kiss on the cheek is standard greeting between girls, and girl-boy. Sometimes even when people you don't know, if it's in a friendly setting.

I never thought it was Tabata or Zoe (in fact, if it were, I'd expect a more aggressive response from Twinsen toward Bersimon) but just a generic, shapely female quetch. Bloodhound may be onto something if some of the aesthetics fit Tabata, but I guess I never bothered to look that closely.
It would make sense though, since she is from the wizard's guild and Bersimon would be aware of her. This could end up being a whole side-quest ala Raph and the pharmacist! The weather wizard's search for love. |

That would make for a very interesting side quest, given how it starts
![]() I don’t think I’ve ever seen Twinsen get angry at anyone who doesn’t at least indirectly try to physically harm him? And he can be a bit cheeky sometimes. |
