Should I make Citadel Island for Thief 2?

Hi fellow LBA fans!

As a mapper for games like Thief and Half-Life, I'm always looking for things to make. I suddenly had the idea to re-make Citadel Island from LBA 2 into a Fan Mission for Thief 2 (If you don't know the game, you should look it up, it's the best First-Person Stealth game out there).

It would be useful however to use the same resources as in LBA 2, which raises my question if it's possible to export textures and/or models from LBA 2, and if yes, into what format?

Thief 2 supports textures in pretty much all formats, but I'm not very sure yet about models, although I know that there are tools for importing models.

What are my rights exactly when exporting textures and models from LBA 2?

Good question... I think you should be safe, considering the remakes and file modifications we have around here...

Hmm how exacly does one export Textures or even Models from LBA2? I have a few tools that allow me to extract files but all files look encrypted or something.

There are textures for LBA2 already exported on one of the old fansites (not sure which one it was), models however are a different story.

Thanks DarkOnistar, I found this https://forum.magicball.net/showthread.php?t=6496 but unfortunately the download link appears to be down. I tried to look up older versions of the site using the Wayback Machine but to no avail.

I have contacted the OP of that topic just in case.

I've got some of those textures myself and been playing around with them in Unreal Engine 4.

I don't think all the textures were included as I noticed I couldn't simply put a texture to everything on Citadel Island.

You might have better luck asking others on the forum or finding a way to extract the textures using one of the many LBA tools; although to be onist they are low quality and you might be better off creating your own textures based off the old ones so as to make your project look sharper and less blurry.

Thanks! That definitely helps a lot.

I'm having difficulties though making an exact replica as making mountains and cliffs in Dromed (Thief's Editor) is really difficult, unlike in Half-Life's hammer editor where you can make them easily with displacements. So if it turns out to be too much of a hassle I'll have to think of something else to make.
