Dinofly Game presentation and installation

Lbanet is a multiplayer game based on the original Lba1. The game official website can be found here: http://lbanet.net

The game is written in C++ and is open source for the client but also the server part. you can find the source code here: http://code.google.com/p/lbanet/
The game tends to be multiplatform even if we currently only support Windows because of a lack of time. However as the source is open and only use multiplatform library so if you are interested in porting the game over other platform just let me know I can help you there.

The game uses OpenGL as rendering engine. Thanks to that we do not use an isometric view anymore but a real 3D perspective view. You can have a look by yourself on the attached picture.

Current game features:
  • walk twinsen through all original lba1 maps but also a few lba2 maps
  • play ingame music for each maps (mp3 format)
  • you can change stances like in the original game, in addition to that you can also ride horse and dinofly through exterior maps.
  • twinsen has a life bar and will loose life if you fall down from to high or if you touch pics. He will die if he has no more life. He will also drown if you go over water
  • in game chat with multiple channels
  • support of smileys and color in the game chat
  • you can connect the game to the MBN IRC channel
  • support for in game videos in avi format
  • support for mikshape 3d model importing
  • the game is totally modulable. You can create your own maps or even your own world and share it to the community.
  • inventory feature

Future features to be implemented:
  • NPC will be added to the game together with quests
  • support for game fight system including magic ball and other projectiles

Game installation

Before installing the game please make sure that you have the .NET platform 3.5 installed on your machine. If not you can download it there:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

In order to play the game you will also need to install nvidia PhysX on your machine if you do no have it already, you can download it here

There is two way to install the game on your machine:

Using the installers (recommanded windows XP):

  1. Download and install the game installer: http://lbanet.googlecode.com/files/LbanetSetup.msi
  2. Download and install the images files installer: http://lbanet.googlecode.com/files/LbanetImageSetup.msi
  3. Start the game from startup menu or desktop icon

Manual installation from archive files (recommanded windows vista and 7):
  1. Download and unpack the game archive: http://lbanet.googlecode.com/files/LBANet_v0.7.rar
  2. Run LBANet.exe

Game requirements:
  • The game has been programmed and tested under windows XP.
  • However it also seems to run under windows vista and windows 7.
  • GoofyLife also made it work under Mac OSX with Parallels
  • There is no supported linux version for now, but it is planned
  • The game will not run under windows 2000 because IPV6 is not supported there.
  • There is no real minimum requirements, however your graphic card needs to have drivers supporting opengl for the game to run correctly.
  • Also your graphic card need to support texture size of at least 2048x2048

Windows 7 and vista users: the game and game patcher need to be executed with administrator rights. In order to do so, go in the game directory. Right click on Lbanet.exe. Click on Property in the context menu. Go to the compatibility tab. Check the box "run as administrator". Click the OK button.

If you run into trouble installing or playing the game, please post your problem there:
