  1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (<-especially for LBA fans, maybe you've played that game, LBA? )
  2. Super Mario Galaxy
  3. Wait till this summer and get Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Well, Darkflame's list will be longer anyway.

Oh, and you haven't checked the manual yet. It's "Wii", not "Nintendo Wii".

Kobold do you have a Wii?
Even with the amount of Wii threads lately, I guess you wouldn't need one to be able to reccommend some games.

No, I don't. It's worth some money, and I having already played the Zelda on the GameCube, I guess I'll get it at Brawl's launch.

Mario Galaxy, Zelda and Metroid Corruption are all very, very VERY much must have games.

Other things to consider;

WiiPlay - When you factor in the free controller, this game is effectively £5. For that price its worth it. The duck hunt game and billards are good.

Theres plenty of other games I enjoyed on my Wii (eg Sonic & The Secret Rings, and the supprisingly good Harry Potter game). However if you stick to these 4 to start with, it will be enough gameplay for the next few months.
After which you will have more choice.

Zack & Wiki, for instance, looks like a great game for adventure/puzzle fans.

Personaly I would recomend against Monkey Ball and Rayman games, both dissapointed me hugely.

Buy as PS3. You'll need to supplant your gaming. My Wii sits idle right now.

Actually, that's not an indictment of the Wii, but more on the third-party producers. I love my Wii, and the games I've bought are great, but I've been playing my PS3 considerably more often.

Paper Mario 2 is awesome, the only problem is that it is a bit too similar to PM1.

PM2 is much better then PM1, imo, despite simerlaritys. (better humour, story and battle system).

As for buying a PS3, tis madness till they actualy release some AAA games rather then "merely good" games that are normaly duel format with xbox or pc. (or both)
Maybe when Little Big Planet and some of the big hitters (MGS4 ect) come, then the ps3 will actualy look attractive.

As much as I dont like supporting microsoft, but if its the shear number/selection you want, then it has to be the xbox360. Having a year headstart its got a pretty decent selection now, and normaly gets better ports.

Personaly I'm happy just taking the cream of the crop on my Wii. I can happly ignore the 3rd party rubbish (ubisoft, looking at you), as I dont have enough time to play the games I got.
Still barely into Galaxy and only half way on Corruption.

call of duty 3 isn't too great, it's an okay launch title but as the Wii gets older the game will feel worse and worse.
Metroid prime 3 is a great game if you want to aim with the controller, it's not exactly an FPS, more of a first person adventure, and definitely one of the best games I've ever played.

Yeah, I think its better to wait for another CoD game for the Wii, IGN infered the next ones would be a lot better then 3.

I've got the Wii Sports and Wii Play bundle, as well as Zelda.

Getting Mario Galaxy for Christmas. Yay!

I can recommend the Zelda game. It's as good as they say it is, if not better.

Ubisoft's done a great job on FPS's though, Rainbow 6: Vegas and GRAW2 are spectacular, and some of the best next-gen games I've played.

Bottom line is that at this point, you're going to need either a PS3 or 360 to supplant most of the 3rd party titles you'll be missing/getting watered down on the Wii.

For example, The Force Unleashed and Ghostbusters, which are probably my most anticipated game, I would love to get for the Wii, but I anticipate (and devs have kind of implied) ports that has PS2 quality graphics, gameplay elements cut out and "softer" stories (to quote the devs of Ghostbusters) and an extra Wii-specific mode or some party minigames to keep people busy. The 360/PS3 versions will get the "full" cinematic experience, albeit without motion controls.

Oh well. Glad I have both consoles.

Xbox360 > PS3

Based only on the games available for each console, 360 is currently leaving the PS3's asshole in ruins.

This is not opinion. This is fact. I don't own either console so I have no bias.

Buy Resident Evil 4 on Wii and Umbrella Chronicles, specially the first one.
And you can buy Nights Into Dreams 2!! The real name is Nights, Journey of Dreams (I Thought)

Nights is a great classic, and only have 1 really-old version on Sega Saturn.

Agreed, the original is a classic, but much like Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360/PS3, it seems like Nights has not faired very well in its next-gen transition. Poor reviews all the way around, unfortunately.

True.
For your Sonic fix its best to go portable.
I love Sonic Rush games, and I hear the PSP Rival ones are good too.

Fair point.
Not really into pure FPSś myself, so probably why I missed that.
From my perspective Ubisoft quality has dropped hugely over the last year or so.

I have nothing against mini-games, but Raving Rabits was just broken. Red Steal was underwealming, they did a cheap port of Pop:ttt which was a waste of time and now they seem to have a non-stop bunch of pet games ending in ¨z¨.
Quanity over quality, basicaly. Most disapointed.
I only hope the new Alone in the Dark makes up for it.

Yes, if you have time for more games then the Wii currently has.
Personaly, I still got a few last gen games to catch up on too.

Its only a short term problem, mind.
A lot of developers and publishers were hugely caught off gaurd by the Wiiś success.
So they then get made to do normaly quick and dirt wii-ports, normaly from ps2 versions. (no offence to the ps2, but the gap between that and the wii is like the gap between the wii and 360).
Motion controlls get ¨mapped¨ to button pressś, making the whole thing useless.
Not that ports are all bad....Resident Evil 4 had care put into it.

What I really annoyed with is developers inserting minigames left right and center.
If they saved their developement time and spent it refineing the main controlls, games would come out so much better. (and not just ports either...Sonic & The Secret Rings could have lost the minigames completely)

Ghostbusters is a -perfect- game for the Wii....if it was made from the ground up for it.
I am highly skeptical any port will work well.
I not so much worried about a toned-down story or anything....that probably means they just removed some realtime cutscenes they couldnt easily reduce polygon counts enough for
Hopefully the wii ghostbuster game will at least push Nintendo to make a fuller, better, Lugiaś mansion for the Wii.

I've had a Wii for almost a year now and I find there aren't that many good games.

I didn't like the new Zelda but my brother and most other people love it so I guess it's pretty good.

Super Paper Mario is pretty decent, I haven't played much of it but it looks stunning.

Super Mario Galaxy is alright, I don't really dig mario all that much but it was fun to play for that 5 minutes I did play for.

Red Steel is decent if you can get over the awful story and repetation of the gameplay.

Cooking mama is awful, do not get it.

I can't think what else we've got, I find myself playing WiiSports whenever I get on our Wii.

Been looking at Super Mario Galaxy (didn't play it myself yet).
It looks really good, but anyone else feel the music is very Zelda-ish?
There's a couple of other things similar as well.
Spoiler:
Like the starman or Luma I think he was called, which is a bit like the fairy that helps you.
And there's 6 grand stars like 6 sages.
Obviously the "save the Princess" is similar.
And Mario never says anything, only makes funny noises.
