Computer Virus Help
Ok so I think I have a virus on my computer. Well actually I'm positive.
And I'm curious if anyone is familiar with it. What its doing is, refusing to let me remove files and programs. Whenever I try to drag them to the recycle bin (yes I use windows) it says that I need admin approval, which I have because I'm the admin... but after I approve it to be deleted it says that I'm not allowed to and refuses to let me. It shouldn't even be asking for the admin to approve the removal so the whole thing is screwy now. So if anyone knows what type of virus is causing this and how I can get rid of it, then please help me out. Its driving me insane. Thanks. |

No idea what type or if its a virus, but my first action would be to boot into a different OS, then run a bunch of scans.
If you don't have a dual boot system, use a Boot CD. Theres loads out there. I find; http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ Pretty good. It lets you boot into a "MiniXP" that runs purely from the CD. From there you can run antivirus scans and disc checks.

You have Windows 7 installed, right? Do you have any anti-virus installed, and which? Norton, AVG, NOD, TrendMicro, McAfee, etc? You could attempt to run a scan in safe mode too, it may have a better chance at detection there than in normal mode, before trying the whole different OS solution.

Hi
![]() I'm fine, sort of. It's really busy, got so much to do and the days aren't getting longer. It's even worse, because I've put all of my projects on on-hold for the time being. My mind is just too occupied right now. Let alone trying out those new things in LBA2 I promised so long ago in those threads, or continuing with the Twinsuniverse. But I did make a promise, and I always keep my promises. "Call me Jack and I'll be back" has always been my slogun. Just did have a typo in my surname though. ![]()
