Nice work Lightwing.
For the moment, this is our most important list

If anyone wants to be on the official RMP calander let me know.
(you need a google/gmail account to get access).

I'll tick of things on the list as we do them, and by the end we should have a kick-arse intro that will inspire work for the rest of the film

With such a big project, with so many members, I can see why such a rigid schedule will be useful, and hopefully will keep people on track. Keep in mind though that these things are a give-and-take, and the schedule may not be set in stone, especially with people at Uni and having exams and jobs and such.

That aside, clearly this is a great step forward for the RMP, and I look forward to helping in any way I can.

Thanks a lot man. I just realized, while making the schedule with Darkflame, just how many people we'd need.

The trouble is, you mention that there is a lot of people, but I'm not sure there are a lot of active members ready to model/work for the project.

Well, I understand your "If you are active" thread had a few replies, and maybe the RMP newsletter mailing list could have a bit of a shout out to get inactive people awakened...

After all, maybe some of them don't visit here often...an email may help.

Hopefully FP will send another quick newsletter out when he gets a chance.
We need to start advertising and get the ball rolling again.

You don't have to necessarily have a newsletter, mate...just use the mailing list to send out an invitation/reminder that the project is officially reactivated, and that people should visit the forum here and the website for more info, etc. etc.

Don't bother with a full-blown newsletter at this point...get your team back together, and then send out the cosmetics.

Most of the stuff above is rather vague and mostly for placeholders. What I assume will happen is that the 5 minute segment will be divided into 4 parts. Each one of these parts, these scenes, will be animated as characters and environments for those scenes are completed. So if the modelers are finished with stuff for a specific part, the animator(s) can take over, while modeling of other objects resumes.

This way, the animation/rendering doesn't have to wait until ALL of the models are finished being build and rigged and textured.

It certainly dosnt, the block animation dosnt have to wait for anything, and you can turn the block animation into the final one as the pieces come flying in
Certainly we dont want to have development waiting too much for other bits.

The block animation is one thing, but I was talking about the final rendering/animation.

But thats the thing, they are one and the same.
The block animation slowly becomes the final animation.

I mean, we could wait till everything is done before doing any renders out.
But personaly, as long as rendering time allows, I dont think Id be able to resist previewing the look of models and assets "in scene" as they come in.

If we stick to BIPED models for charecter animation, its even possible to animate the charecters in block form, before we have them modeled or rigged.
(and then re-import the same animation when they are skinned).

Its like you say basicaly, but rather then devideing into 4, you dont even have to wait for the first section to be fully complete before animating.
