Twinsen's house sub-tasks

That's there that my lack of experience with the 2D programs is a real handicap (that I plan well to fix asap of course).

To help me modelling Twinsen's house precisely, I'd need some transformed images. Could any photoshop geek transform that 3D isometric view into a 2D seen-from-above map of Twinsen's house ? It mustnt be too hard to make, and I need that to set precisely the dimensions of the different rooms and stuff in order to optimize the work and create a modulable house. Thanks.

Else, if some people could find a little time to prepare me some pretty carpet textures, or wall painting textures, I'd be sooo happy. Thanks.

I'll try to make a not-too-heavy scene, but that's going to be hard

Regards, {RMP}FP

Well, I'm not really a photoshop 'geek' so cant help you there
Good to see you're modelling the whole of Twinsen's house now, I really needed some accurate outside/inside wall textures from LBA for some of my scenes too, let's see who can provide them

Yeaowhh you're sure that you cant make the map ? That texture is prettilly well matching the game !
Let's see how it renders...hum apart from a black detail that is a little too visible (maybe you should smooth that detail), it seems to be a good wall...maybe the texture image is a little too little to show enough details...what do others think of it ?

FP- Theres no real advantage in faking a map from overhead.
Just set up the isometrix picture as the background to a isometrix viewpoint in max.
Then draw approximate shapes from overhead, and allign them perfectly in the ISO viewpoint.
Theres no way of easily turning an isometrix viewpoint into an overhead, and however you do it you will never had precision (because it involves a lot of guesework)
You might as well have the guesework/estimate bit during the modeling stage.
The method discribed above is exactly how I modeled the area around Twinsens house, and Im confident its as accurate as is possible.

I thought that with a tiny algorythm it'd be very easy to convert an isometric viewed form to an overhead one....I thought to a such manual method, but it seemed to be harder to set...I'll try that way. But for it to work I gotta put the iso view exactly at an angle like the isometric one of the game, else there will be huge deformations, no ?

Excellent idea for the paintings of the house. I'll crawl the fan art section and we should indeed make a call for creations It'd be awesome to have the MBN creations insied the movie.

I know, I had the exact same disapointment.
Max's makes it fairly easily though, One of the viewpoint angles is isometrix anyway
(and at the exact right angle, just dont move it! )

Yeah, DF's idea of setting the screenshot as a background is probably what you should do, it also helps modelling human faces etc.

I've found no isometric view, the perspective one deforms the lines, and the user one sets up in a "front view" configuration...but it's OK, I've moved it until fitting the main lines of the screenshot

Other metaphysic question : must I put doors, or must I let all open as in the game ? Automatic doors, maybe, no ?

Leave it open I think
I like the style, as weird as it is.
If anyone disagrees we could have a vote.
Another possibility is too have some technological barrier.
(force field type thing, but 95% transparent)
--
hmz..odd...your right.
Maybe 3.1 had it defult to isometrix...oh well, at least you got it now

opacitifible glass!
Predicted by Isaac Asimov, now a reality! (well, if your rich)
Pur simply, its a few layers of glass with liquid crystall in between.
By pressing a switch it goes form transparent to opaque.

Perfect for LBA tolets no?

And how do you enter the toilets if that glass is always there ? And if you can remove it to enter, isnt that easier to put a door instead ?

I was thinking of having 3 sides glass walls, and the other bit a force field.

Hm, you could always have the opaque glass, perhaps it could atomatically open up as FP said, with a 3 sided wall, it will still be there is someone tries to enter, no?

My father is a photographer for the newspaper so he has VERY VERY VERY cool camera's

Canon D30
Canon D60
and other professional camera's.

So, if you need textures, photographs of paintings, or whatever, I want to make them for you! I would love it!

NEAT ! excellent set of textures

what do you mean by "3 sides glass walls" ? The walls arent transparent in that house ? only the door/inside windows can be....

3D-Bruyn - the problem is that lbaish textures are quite hard to find in our world ...so if you find some on your way shot them, but imo we got more chances to have proper ones with photoshop and the game's ones than that wiuth real world photos.
And for the paintings, the best is to take the MBN members ones

Why using LBA textures, they are ugly!, with modern textures it's much nicer!

And what about this:
On the paintings on the wall, making jokes like the Mona Lisa, with a rabbybunny had on it, would be very funny!

I meant there would be glass "walls" around the tolet area, when someone enters they turn opaque. When someone leaves they turn transparent again.
