Here's two more short tunes I tried to copy yesterday. Not sure about the harmony though.

This thread looks promising =D

After all these years, finally there's something I want to see (or should I say...hear?) regarding LBA.

I don't think I'll work anymore on The Village before holidays on April 16, so here are the lead instruments, I'll add background music later. But it's only a prototype, I've never tested it! The three files are a midi, a pdf and the .mus file, made with Finale NotePad 2008. Maybe someone here uses it; it was the only one that costs nothing
Feel free to change it!

I forgot: The midi may sounds a bit too smooth, that's because I was too lazy to make all these notes staccato
But everyone plays it as he likes, doesn't he?

Very nice. Sounds really medieval when these parallel intervals stick out.

Wow, these shorts are really amazing. Keep up the great work!
Playing the music with a orchestra should be a lot of fun.

I think I have some sheet music sketches of LBA2 music on my computer.
Maybe I can post them here later.

I've sent the next mail to Phil:

Dear Mr Vachey

I gave the four tracks to my conductor, he likes the music and would enjoy to play it. But he also reminded me that many strings are used that have to be transcribed (The Stadtorchester Norden is a wind orchestra) and that we can't afford professional transcribers. Anyway, I posted my plans on the Magiball Network (maybe you heard about it - click here) and although the thread is not older than a month four people have already offered their help at transcribig or made smaller midi tracks. Moreover, someone made a piano version of "Honey Bee" which can be used well for transcribing. So there's demand and support for my project
If there are no score sheets, do you may have some little parts of it or maybe a file (e.g. a midi or software files like Fruity Loops)? Especially a file would be an enourmous help, but everything else would be great, too.
I hope you can help!

Greetings from Germany!
Onno Jacobs

Hi,

three years ago I started to transcribe the main theme for two pianos: http://forum.magicball.net/showthread.php?t=13553
Well, my hard drive crashed, I lost all data and didn't want to start all over again ...

I hope it helps!

GO ON WITH IT!!!

I haven't chosen LBA's Theme because I think it sounds too harmonic ... just too normal and not interesting enough. But your piano version gave it some kind of spice. Maybe it's even easier to make an orchestra arrengement of it than of the four other tracks, because there's a midi.
Great work, A-n-d-r-é!

Hi,

I just found a transcription of "The Village" I did some time ago.
Well it's from LBA1, I hope it's not too off-topic.

@kuschkusch: I use LilyPond. It's a bit difficult to learn it, because there's no GUI. You have to learn the syntax. Here's a good introduction: http://lilypond.org/learning.html

@Polaris: It wasn't very difficult
We have the original .xmi-files from midi_mi.hqr which I converted to midi with Awave Studio (shareware).
Then I calculated the bpm with an online bpm counter and changed the speed of the midi to the measured bpm (In the case of "The Village" it's 108 bpm) with GNMIDI (shareware). I do that because the speed of the original midis is wrong, it's always 120 bpm.
Then I opened the midi with Notation Musician (shareware) to convert the midi to sheet music.
And since the output of Notation Musician is very ugly, I transribed it with LilyPond.

So this could also be done with the other midis in midi_mi.hqr

Phil answered:

Dear Onno,

If I remember well, there’s some midi files included with the first LBA (LBA 1).
However, I can’t deliver neither scores nor midi files (I mean those we used for recording)

Best option : a transcription.

Best regards,

PS : Let me know about the progression of your project J

With best regards,

Philippe V.

This sounds great man, Vachey's compositions deserve to be played by a real composer.

I started to transcribe The Empire. But then I stopped, lost motivation and didn't continue (new job and other stuff) ...
Maybe I'll work on it again in January.

kuschkusch told me he also stopped, since he'll leave the wind orchestra soon.

Which program are you using Andre? Maybe we could profit from each other's work.

Small update ... This is the version of Dec 2011: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ltym93gr9ogoqn1
I'll try to work on it again in my vacation.
Btw I'm using Finale 2011, but I'd like to switch to Sibelius someday.
