3d software is indeed expensive as hell, but I suppose there are huge development costs for these programs as well. That doesn't explain though the huge price difference between Maya and 3dstudio Max

I have personally never really favored Maya. Haven't used it in a while though.

I'm rather pissed that my own university is primarily using Maya. Everybody thinks that just because Maya is more expensive and because it's used more in movies (something I heavily disagree with) that it must be better than 3DsMax.

That's about the biggest BS I ever heard.
