LBA2 Speed Running Races

Today, in our sheer boredom, me and Bot13 had a live race to see who could complete LBA2 first.

Rules were simple:

1. You have to play the game properly, i.e. get all the magic levels, follow through the storyline.
2. You can skip all movies and dialogues.

This was lotsa fun, and I would very much like to do it again, but on a larger scale, with maybe 5 or 6 people racing at the same time. Of course, we only had each others word for when we had finished, but it was all in good spirit, and you're kinda lame if you'd lie to win an LBA2 race...

Anyways, the point of this thread..

If people are interested we could arrange a day where we all log in #lba (this is so we can keep in contact and stop for breaks simultaneously and such) and have a mass LBA2 race!

Anyone interested?

Well there's no real way to prove that you won.. Even if the magicball members are usually honest it doesn't mean they're honest in competition.

Well, I would say Cannibal's run was not live, because it didn't happen, in the present (as it were). This is where we all play at the same time... So it's "Live".

Okay, so I'd like to set a date to do this, otherwise these things just don't happen. So let me just run through a few things...

Current Participants:

Myself
Bot13
StreGGy
Supermot
Kobold
Dan2552

(More are welcome of course)

Simple rules:

1. You have to play the game properly, i.e. get all the magic levels, follow through the storyline.
2. You can skip all movies and dialogues.
3. No cheats, bugs, etc. No tricking the game in any way.

So I hope people are available in the day next week? We could do it maybe tuesday or wednesday if that would meet with approval, start about 10am GMT (It is 9.45am here currently, so check the time of this post to work out stuff if you need to).

Does this all seem okay?

Hm... I'd like to participate but we've still got a week of school around here! Perhaps you could set a different time/date? There's no school on Thursday this week.

Heh, okay np, if thursday is good for everyone, we'll do it then.

Same time and stuff.

So basically, you need to be able to run an IRC app and play LBA2 and be able to see and run both at the same time.

The IRC is so we can keep in touch, and if someone needs to go to the phone or answer the door or something like, we all need to stop together to make it fair...

And the LBA2 is for.. Well, y'know.

I'm considering this, but expect me on IRC to say stuff like 'OMFG IM AT BLAH AND I DUNNO WHAT TO DO' while you'll all be far ahead laughing at me.. (or maybe behind )

Someone better help me..

Though what if someone says BRB, thinking they'll be a minute and then finding out they're going to take about 30mins and wont be able to tell anyone

Also, running LBA2 in a window made it crash for me at a point - cant remember when.. So how're you expecting to have IRC up at the same time?

---------------
EDIT

I have a 2nd screen ready I don't know if i'm available on thursday but if i am i'll drop in anyway

any idea how to choose which screen to load LBA2 on?

Sounds cool. If thursday is not good, we could try, friday maybe? I assume Kobold finishes school on thursday so he has several weeks off after that.

I don't know about the second screen though..

If only... Friday is the last school day!
But after that... six weeks summer holidays. And I'm at home about all the time! (And I like it that way.)

Aiight, so here we go. In exactly 24 hours, everyone should be logging into #lba

(If you don't know how to get there, check the "how to get on #lba" sticky thread in off-topic forum)

So we can start racing around eleven. We will wait about 20 minutes for all the named participants above to arrive, so please let me know if you can't come.

(I know about people maybe coming so don't worry if you let me know already)

Otherwise I hope to see all of you at 11am GMT tomorrow! And of course, anyone who hasn't said they are coming are welcome.

I'm getting confused now. You posted at 11am GMT +1. Summertime... So when exactly will it be? 11am GMT +1? 11am GMT?
