How about being able to choose?
Also include widescreen resolutions. |

Why is this off-topic?
I guess 800x600 will be a resolution that can be handled by every PC, and I don't know any others between. |

I voted 1024 x 768, but I'd prefer 1280x1024

compile 2 versions, one with a wide-screen res. Like DVDs, where theres a classic size and a widescreen

games shouldn't use a fixed resolution, specially not when there are a lot of people using fixed resolution monitors (e.g. TFT).
It's no longer 1997 |

The easy way is to make only the menu in a fixed resolution.

why?

cause the engine doesn't automatically resizes the 2d images , so a simple message or icon displayed would be like this :
if res=1 then load image 1 if res=2 then load image 2 where res1=800x600 , res2=1024x768 , image 1=a 100x100 pixels image and image 2= the same image , only resized to 128x128 . so see ?

Maybe if you can reprogram the engine, if you have sufficient knowledge for it, then it could be possible for it to auto-resize the images.

well does the engine support a windowed mode?
|

|
||||
|
||||
Well, you can try to do two layers, one in a fixed 800x600 res, and the other one beneath it, with the actual game in changable res.
