Facebook going to be subscribe only?

I just saw a bunch of friends join a group called "I will not pay $3.99 a month to use Facebook", but I did a google search and couldn't find anything talking about it.
Anyone heard anything about this?

Seb don't be a fool, Facebook is not charging anyone for use. You know how they love to announce every little update above the news feed anyway, that's how you'd hear about it, not from some spam group...

I don't really see the point of it on Facebook, they used to send the emails around about how messenger services were shutting down in a month unless you forwarded the email on to 15 or so people which would slow down the email services if everyone did it. Also pretty pointless but that was what they (and who are they? the wizards) were trying to do for whatever reason.

With broadband anyway it's all pretty redundant.

Click on the group, read the info, check their sources. If they have no or unreliable sources, it's a joke.

Double-J has a good source that claims the opposite, so I guess that's answered.

The only issue with Facebook recently are changes in their default privacy settings, and the owner making some comments about people not wanting privacy or something. Be sure to set your profile as restricted as possible here.

I agree, I feel it is best to remain as privitized as possible. I'm still not really thrilled with their privacy options, I think they could be streamlined a bit better. But it's better than nothing I suppose. I felt the older ones were a bit more navigable, but maybe I was just used to them.

Same thing on PSN. A few months back, there was a chain going on about Sony charging unless x number of people made usernames with an anti-charge nick or sending x number of messages to your friends list. Ridiculous.

Yeah, I know it was a hoax... But I started digging deeper and found a quote from someone in facebook taking about how the basic service will be free.
This is what I was interested in reading about, and I can also see where people would turn around at that and scream "Facebook's no longer free!".

I just omitted some information from my original post. Actually, quite a bit because reading over it, it does seem I believed the hoax.
(99.9999999999998% of things like that are hoaxes anyway)

Its funny, in Sweden it has turned into some kind of sport to create a big group and then changing its name to something like "whe who had sex with our parents" and similar. Its all over the gossip magazines
