Allright, i'll get right to the point:
Render: ![]() Fixed sizes render: ![]() Video timelapse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBnfwtl0jCg UPDATE - fixed lenghts caused by wrong perspective projection http://youtu.be/hdZw8ze8n8k And even model to poke around it.If you gonna use it somewhere - tell it to me and you might even get consultation on 3d modelling, or if it will be remake of lba 2 i might even join to project C: (you need 3dsmax 2011 to open it) http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPrevie....cfm/ID/712095 Last edited by smoke_th; 2012-12-15 at 16:31. |

hmz...never thought of using Turbosquid for free model hosting, thats a smart idea.
Anyway, I guess the next step is to add some pictures in those frames and add some nice lighting? I find Max's Daylight system works fairly well, but you will need too add a roof (and then set it invisible to camera on its properties - it will still effect lighting). Then youd need skyportals at each window (so it knows where to let the light in), adjust the exposure and you should get the whole thing looking about 10 times more cool ![]()

Vray can be just as cpu demanding as mr from my experience
![]() They can both grind your machine to a halt. One key is to ensure you have a floor on your scene....just a really big plane for the "ground". That helps speed them up. The SkyPortals I mentioned also help quite a bit as it tells max where to put "the effort" of the render (ie light in the windows) rather then it doing it everywhere. If I have time I'll set up a scene for you tomorrow with lighting and you can see if it works for you.

Quick addition - almost fully rigged Francos (have no clue how to rig flat-surface eyes. might make hd remake with a bit more spherical eyes tommorow)

Heres a very quick lighting demo (Max08, so should open in latter versions)
darkflame.co.uk/sharespace/quicklighting demo.max Just hit render and see if your machine can handle it. -- Regarding the eye, yes, I can see how rigging that would be haard ![]() You could put the pivot point of the eye back...like, a mile...then when its rotated it would seem to move on a almost flat plane, but thats just silly :P Maybe something could be done with axis constraints, make it into a kinda slidding thing. Tricky.

I'm not an expert, actually I know nothing about this, but wouldn't not making the eyes squared help?

Ah yes, thats more like it! [/lighting]
![]() The other thing you can play with is bloom. Yes, its hugely overused, but its dead simple and often even a little makes things look better. Add a Blur "Effect", set it to luminance only, 90% min and only 30% or so visible. Thats often roughly what you want for a nice bloom look around windows. Anyway, good work with the eye too.

Damn, his room's just gorgeous! The Franco's good as well!
I'll just criticize the first Image, the walls on his house are kinda HIGH, you know? Can't see the door passages, the walls are blocking the vision, but it's good, anyway! Good work! |

Wow, never noticed that thread! That's amazing! Incredible work here!
Also, I'm very glad you are basing your models on LBA2... It seems like most 3D modelling here is about remaking LBA1. |

Hey, the turbo squid link is gone, could someone help me find the 3ds file for the house? It would help me heaps on learning how he made the models.
Also, where did he get those textures for the walls? The look very nice and high def!!! Would be perfect for my project. Thanks!!!! ![]() |
