Nostradamus's 'R' Us (2004 predictions)

Ok, an easy thread, all you have to do is predict the future ;D

Things I think will happen in 2004:

* 3D Computer/laptops moniters slowly become standard (high-range, then mid-range)
* Microscopic life found on mars
* Skype slowly becomes as big as kazaa, phone companys panic and are forced to reduce long distance call charges.
* Wi-Fi hotstops spread further, possibly a tenfold increase in userbase.

I'll list more in a mo, what do the rest of you think will happen?

Technology:
  • CRT monitor sales drop greatly; all people go TFT
  • 64 bit CPUs will make a great sales boost
  • Even better Centrino-like technology (little energy consuming CPUs and faster WiFi for in laptops) and sales of those laptops
  • Multi-layered DVD technology will become a new standard
  • ADSL will turn out to be a too limited standard after all (8/1 Mbit is the physical maximum, which will be too little bandwidth)
  • Lots of new ways of buying legal music over the internet will rise, many to be very crappy (and expensive)
Actually I don't have much non-technology predictions.
Maybe later.

I don't believe in 3D monitors, at least not in the coming year. A revolution of electronical paper seems more realistic.

Trust me i have seen the future

(well, actualy, i have seen what Sharp have just started saleing, I also know Nvidia are ancipating a big push over the next year. The new paralax barrier techique really is future technology so gobsmacking that no one has realised it exists yet
Also, seeing as i just got some 3D shutter glass's, i know using murphys law they will be outdated withen a year)

As for electronic paper, yes, over the next year that will be perfected.
True colour in 2005 as well.
We probably wont start seeing it in widespread use till 2006-7, as the inferstructure will take a long time to set up.

3D monitors? I'd like to see some info on that

um,
-broadband faster and more widespread
-Trium Planeta cancelled XD
-most of what's been said; wireless internet, Skype, online music purchasing etc.
-Skype revealed to have some kind of spyware thing :P
-terrestrial TV starts to die out
-even more crappy popstars/bands and reality TV shows
-US starts another war with a random middle-eastern country

http://www.sharp3d.com/
and
http://www.dti3d.com/

I dought terriestal TV will die out in 04, digital propergation is starting to reach a hard wall of people (ie me), who simply dont need more then 5 channels.

Also, the govement is currently wayyyy behind targets needed for them to sale of the bandwidth. (dispite them forcing BBC to spend its cash on all those shitty channels)

Why do ~95% of the predictions involve computers or other technological stuff?

Yeah, I think so too. A source here at the forum with insight in the American regime said this:
Quote:
But Syria and Libya have been terorist hotbeds for quite some time! See also Yemen, especially after the USS Cole bombing...

Syria is where Saddam hid his weapons. Pakistan is where Osama is hiding. And America is where the boot is that will be stuck up all their asses.

Anyway, about the increase in bisexuals, that's inevitable considering the liberalization of sexual norms and values in society today.

In 2004, no.
In 200X certainly. (if no one makes it officialy by 2007, im gueseing we will try to get the rights ourselfs too do it )
---
Starman was correct here, theres no reason for the real number of bi-sexuals too increase, only the number that admit it.

Still, as far as homosexuals go, im puzzled as too why they exist at all. (i mean, purely in evolutionary terms).

Well, I will correct myself.

The number of people practicing bi-sexual acts/lifestyles will increase.

Perhaps that would be the proof that there is another reason to exist besides to procreate

Get together with a foxy biatch (Monica grrr, beware of mr Bulleproof), drink fatal amounts of beverage. He'll get laid by groupies at multiple occasions and reinvent hardcore-emo.
