Twinsen Everybody Read. This is important!

OK. Im new, so i dont know if im allowed to post this here or not, so here goes.

I am going to start a lba online rpg. It will be mainly message board based, although will have a lot of stuff that isn't on the boards. It will start before the time of lba 1. I will need people to play twinsen and funfrock etc while there will be people playing as totaly invented characters. Because it starts before lba1 Twinsen will be a nobody and i want you all to ignore him untill he escapes from the citadel and will be a wanted criminal. There can be a lot of story lines that never happed in either of the games, even when we are playing through the games if you know what i mean. You will have the opportunity to make some kashes by running a shop or working in one. You will also be able to live and role play on zeelich, allthough until the time when in lba 2 where the esmers land on twinsun there will be no interaction between them.

Please get in contact with me and tell me if you think this is a good idea.

I like the idea. But I think it's very hard to achieve to make an online RPG.

You need a game engine.
You need to make the game itself.
You need a 24/7 RPG server with a fast connection.

But if it could work out; nice idea

I think that's called a crosspost. But as you're a newbie, and a few of us are oldies (I registered in Aug 2001) we won't tell you off
Welcome to the board! You'll have a great time here, it's the best board online
Read the forum rules, there's all stuff there about what you shouldn't do here.
An RPG would be a very good idea, but you need something fast.

hmmm

Hmmm

HMMMMMMM

I presume you never heard of The Prologe of LBA?

It's the longest running fanfiction, created by a few people on this board (Silverfish, Lightwing, Jono (what happened to him anyway?), and me) and still has to be finnished (which I'm intend to do).

Well, it is a great idea indeed, and it would be cool if we did this
perhabs mIRC is the best place to do this, since it rather long for a story is really running.
I'm not sure if you wish to use 'Dungeon Masters' or just use everybodies imagenation

Sounds cool to me, something like VTMR or D&D, so with your imagination, and not with an engine (to Wacko ).

Welcome to the board btw !

I like the idea, but what system are you going to use?
D&D,AD&D,T&T,GURPS?
I think you will need a dungeon master either way, even if its just for light "story guideing".

It would be way harder to do that at mIRC. Near impossible, and pretty stupid actually. There are programs like that, that do a lot of stuff, with dice rollers, actions and such.

Ramond: Anyway, the best system to use is 3D&D or 3D&T, that´s very fast.
But I didn´t get what you really mean.
You mean online narrating, that´s very simple and I already did at #LBA (although with improvisation), or something like a program?

I think he means an organised old-style D&D style game, not a computer game.
(I think as such, a forum, would be best)

Oh.
The best option is using IRC, then.
You can simulate a perfect campaign at IRC, the only difference is that you can´t hit your comrades or the DM, but life´s unfair.
It´s not hard to make, we only have to choice the master, build the forms, set up a date and play
I programmed dice rollers and such.

I think a slower-moving forum based one would be better, we could have much more players that way.

I don´t see why you think in that way.
In mIRC we could have something like 1000 players
isn´t that enough to you?

mIRC has to be in real time, the forum does not, thus there can be more players.
(potentialy, every active member of the forum , not just those that happen to be on IRC at a certain time)

In anyway, an online rpg runned at a forum?...
Nah.
It wouldn´t work.
It would kill the gameplay and get pretty confuse... I have been playing RPG with IRC since years ago and it works very well.
If we set up a date that is nice to everybody, we can have more players. Planning RPG is something that always need patience...

(already got a bit with the rpg with Lightwing and Me,... damn we need to continue that sometime )
