The years they pass.

I just realized that yesterday, the 16th August, it was 17 years since I started primary school.

17 years, man!!

And 11 years since I played LBA first and started browsing the ITW forums.

Isn't it absurd how time passes by?

(I'm probably getting old)

Yes, it's sad that time passes.

But at least you and I don't have to worry about getting old, there will soon be a cure for that. Aging is simply the process of body cells not dividing properly. Each time a cell is divided, the new cells that come out are of lesser quality. Doesn't sound like such a big problem to solve, what with today's lightning speed progress in medicine and biotechnology.

Either way, nostalgia is something to take caution of. It feels sweet to go back to the familiar, but if you stay there too long your mind starts to become inane - and that's when you lose your youth.

I have exactly the same feeling. I'm 21 now - I was 13 when I joined these forums. That's a whole lifetime of MBN...

Things that make me feel particularly old:

1) 18yo girls. They're becoming too young for me. How is that possible?
2) Comparing my current self to pictures of me a few years ago. I aged quickly.
3) People who were born in the 90s.
4) 09/11 having happened so many years ago.
5) A cousin I have that knows how to... read and stuff. I mean, he used to be a toddler.
6) Remembering that I've been living on my own for 4 years now.

The list goes on, I think I'll have a little nap now. Goodbye.

Same for me. I actually find it to be more of a maturity issue. Sure, they have glorious assholes, but the question is, can you put up with them long enough to slap some duct tape on their mouth and get them into the bedroom?

In a few hours I'll be moving to another town where I will start a "new life" and study at university. I'm old. I'll leave my whole childhood life and town behind me. Yet I'm as young as an adult can be, I'm just about to for the first time escape from my mother's tight embrace.

I guess our feeling of how old we are is fluctuating based on who we compare too and look at.

Has anyone in here ever moved to a new life in another country?
Even if just for a short period?
Tell us your story.

I am 21 as well, but hey they won't be too young for us for many years to come, there's still time. But I know how you feel, it is insane.

sgk: Think of it this way: it's like a message in a bottle. In our world, we put a message inside a bottle to protect it while it travels through the oceans to reach some other island. In other worlds, they put a message inside an asteroid to protect it while it travels through space to reach some other planet. In this case it is a gift, a guitar, rather than just a message.

You could call it like that... I was born in France, and I lived 10 years there. Then I moved to Hungary and I still live there (I'm 19 now). But I intend to move back to France once I finish University (or maybe before, I don't know).
You see, my mother is Hungarian and my father is french, so, we (me and my two younger sisters) live in Hungary with my mother, and my father works in France, in an airport. So, We have a discount on airplane tickets, and my father comes to hungary every week-end.
(Note : my parents aren't divorced)

Interesting story. But when you move back to France, you'll live alone or with your father?

With my father I think... But much can change until then.
My father doesn't live alone, our house in France is pretty big, so now, my aunt and uncle are living there as well

I feel the same and it's horrible.. In two months I'll start university and it's like a new world for me. It's as if the children stayed in school and it seems so far away. Sometimes I'm afraid with the passing of time, it's very fast x.x

Is the university far from where you live?

Do I live in the only country in which 17yo girls only date 20+yo guys?

No, it isn't. It is in the same city where I live. In fact, I can get there walking from my house xD

Not that bad then, you can refugee yourself easily after the uni. Besides, that fear is normal, you'll probably like it in the end.

Streggy - Yeah, true, teens like that do have a tendency to always prefer older guys.
