Humble Bundle....the sequal! 5 new indie video games, no DRM and pay what you want! Money goes straight to the developers and charity (you can even pick how much to each);

The first Humble bundle was terrific value, so I recomend people check this out. (7 hours left before the offer expires)

Saw this on EFF's Deeplinks and bought it straight away. Well worth some money! It's a very decent bunch of games.

I divided my sum up so that one half went for the devs and the other half for EFF.

Me too, basically.
Gave some to childsplay as well, but more to EFF which seems more important really.
(Besides, childsplays got the whole Loading Ready Run / http://desertbus.org/ thing to help them).

hehe, and HB has got half a million already.

Darkflame, what was their achievement last year? May be wrong but it looks like they've already surpassed it.

The top ten contributors also seem to have spent a lot more money. I guess they caught onto the fact that a website that gains 1 million+ in sales is also a good spot for adverticements :P

Indeed.
I notice "leet" amounts and PI donated :P
Also, I think that "notch" is the minecraft guy.

$1,273,613 was their last total, so they will beat it easily at this rate.

Yet another great reason to purchase the Humble Bundle #2 has presented itself. You now get the first Bundle for free if you pay [more than the current average]!

Fortunately, we who have already bought the Humble Bundle #2 are entitled to partake of this sweetened deal without paying anything additionally.

Such a sweet deal!

Read more about it here.

I noticed that. Guess its good targeted advertising.

I tried OnLive, incidently. Worked pretty well (at least on my connection). Not sure about their pricing, but for demoing games its pretty slick.

Anyway, I've been giving some of the HB 2 games a go;

Cortex is by far the most impressive, but also in many ways the least playable. The potential gameplay is huge, but theres no campagn yet! So its pretty much just an engine demo with a series of challanges. A few control-glitchs too.

Osmos is supprisingly slick. Once you add gravity and orbits into the equation ye-old "eat things smaller then you to get bigger" gameplay really gets a lot more interesting. I dont think its quite as relaxing as they make it out though...can get pretty intensive. The game has nice music though and is pretty polished.

Revenge of the Titans - Played a few levels, looks like a nice variation on tower defence with a lot of gameplay principles I like (Research!), also keeps the player active over the play making it feel more like a traditional RTS. The let-down at the moment is the campagn isn't well done - replaying levels seems to whipe out your later progress.
Along with Cortex though, the game is still in development, and any buyers get all the updates as they come out.

Braid and Machininum I've yet to really play enough to judge, but both seem very much retail game quality, and substanial in both gameplay length and depth.
