The goodbye MBN

How many times have i Witnessed these Goodby MBN threads. Lets face it, theyre childish attention seeking threads, and while id rather some people not leave, and others to dissapear and just drop the self pitying messages, its always the case that people make fun of the person in question.

Why? Because it's an obvious desperate plea for attention. Other times because the person in question comes to our forum (our being the people like me and others whove been here for fuckin ages) and tells us off, hell this is our fucking forum, without us its an empty fucking shell. Hate to sound arrogant, but weve known each other for years, had our good and bad times. Weve even met up with one another in real life.

Suddenly, Schitzn comes along and repeats the whole goodbye MBN cycle, and the same fucking reactions come along.

Allow me to highlight, Schitzn was critisizing my thread and the behaviour of the members in that thread, like Me, Anakin, JJ, Aule to name a few. Note, all of us have been here for years, we honestly dont want to be told whats acceptable or not by a new guy. I like Schitzn, however i am annoyed by his reaction. However, he is dead wrong in telling us off, and making homophobic comments towards members!!! (What if we were gay, wouldnt we really have been offended). So the REACTION CAME ALONG.

What JJ, Anakin, and Medur did was REACT. Yet you give them refraction points, and threaten them with Bans, for what?! FUCKALL.

So lets put it in brief
*Situation is a common one
*Members commonly make fun of attention seekers
*member leaving makes homophobic comments, tells community off
*members make fun (as usual)
*suddenly theyre wrong

I dont understand, but explain why is this time an exception?

Goodby MBN threads are stupid indeed, and I get sick of them, but still...you have to judge everything as an event in itself...not a case of things being an action/reaction.

I think the goodbye threads suck, especially because sooner or later the people who start those threads, come back.

It's a pity that you never get goodbye threads from people who DO leave forever.

I agree totally! However, I dont understand why this time is an exception, and why this particular case warrants threats of banning against 3 members who were here for years. If no one warns me against doing something wrong when it happens several times, and then suddenly tells me your wrong, id get well baffled. I personally think that what should have been done was to let them know that this behaviour is not tolerated, and they shouldnt do it the next time.

That is a genius idea. I don't think people can have thought of that one; perhaps that should be a new forum rule...

Although personally I don't mind the goodbye threads – it was nice to be informed that Schitzn was leaving.

No, as in a rule that bans good-bye threads, but instead encourages good-bye signatures. But to be honest I personally don't mind good-bye threads, although lots of people seem to.

Comon sheepie, letting a sig in your explain that your away may work fine, however I'm sure all wanted to ask how for example anakin had it in swiss, so goodbye threads are good imo.

And if a "noob" that people aint really caring about posts a offensive (often homophobic) goodbye thread we can just ignore it (or do like Pandy do ).

They are in my opinion not only attention-seeking threads and in some cases interesting.

Hey people, when I'd leave this forum for somewhat, I would post a thread in the Member Announcements forum. Why? Read the description:

Announcements like "I'm leaving", "I'm new", "Happy Birthday", etc. goes in here.

You cannot blame someone for using the forum in a way it's supposed to be used.

If people wanna make a thread saying they're going cos they don't like you or whatever, why'd you even give them the attention by replying? Just ignore it, and they can run along.

Then - no flames, no attention given, no harm done; everyone wins. Loser gets to go, and no one has to pay any attention or get in trouble.

Aye. I would have loved to get goobye threads from people like froggee and darkstealth. They were some of the coolest members who stoped visiting years and years ago. Oh well.

I think the people who truelly want to leave just forget about the place to even so much as make a goodbye thread. While the people who remember to leave one seem to have the forum on their mind, so they come back eventually.

Only people the moderators dislike are allowed to be flamed, or threads that people deem homophobic are acceptable to be universally flamed and appropriate repurcussions ignored.

Hooray Axx, for finally bringing up this issue. I don't necessarily mind the goodbye threads for vacations and such - i.e. I'm not going to be here for a week or something (especially if you are heavily involved in a project, like the Prequel or RMP), but these diary-of-a-preteen-girl-cries-for-attention-he-doesn't-like-me-oh-my-God-armageddon is coming goodbyes are a little too dramatic for my taste.

If you're leaving, congrats. Tell the people who you talk to via PM, or sig. If you want to make a thread, don't make it a glurge fest. Thanks.
