Frederick Raynals new game right under our very noses!!!!!!!
*Whoops, forgot to submit as news!!!*
Soul Bubbles, for the Nintendo DS. It's a sidescroller where you blow bubbles. It looks like a locoroco like game, with its own unique art style. It's been in development since 2004, where the creator of Saga of Ryzom, brought Frederick in to help him, because he was more used to single player games. In 2006, Frederick moved on to the Ubisoft game we are all so patiently awaiting. I think the game will be out this spring. I think. Links! With screens! Praise me! For I am the Lord! http://www.dsfanboy.com/2008/01/31/p...-soul-bubbles/ http://www.ecrans.fr/Le-stylet-decoi...ulle,3138.html http://www.nintendic.com/news/1760 Last edited by Cyberg-Ares; 2008-02-01 at 11:18. |

uhm... could be just me, but wasn't this a consulting gig for Fred, and not really a game he created?
Because Fred works at Ubisoft, why wouldn't Ubisoft publish the game rather than Eidos. Anyway... the game looks interesting. Still looking for a new NDS game to play. |

As to why Ubisoft didn't pick the title, well, you'd have to ask those frog-lovi-... guys. I think the graphics are awesome too. LBAWinOwns, did you mistake the game for a PC game? Homeless: I'm quite proud^^ |

Looks awesome for NDS.Just think that the DS is like a portable N64.Way to Go Fred!

DS is powerwise like a portable N64 with more ram (higher res textures), but no texture filtering. Basicaly.
I think this looks good. ![]() Blob-dynamics like that are quite tricky to do right. Its not completely unique or anything (See the shareware "Gish" which is great), but this looks more complex.

Umm, Fred was a consultant at the time, and has said previously he helped out here and there on different game projects. That in no way makes this his game, and to say he had a huge part in the game is more than an overstatment.

Fred helped us as a consultant part time during the first year, when we discussed and established basic game design mecanics. He also created many levels while the game was at prototype stage to help us experiment. Although he had few to do with actual production of code art and levels, even during production he followed our conversations and helped on various design points.

Regardless of the quanity of input, I dont think it really maters.
This looks like a very interesting game, the fact Fredric Raynal helped with part of it weighs towards me getting it, but more importantly, it raised the game onto my rader. If he didnt help, this thread wouldnt be here, and I wouldnt have known about it. (IGN, revo-europe and cubed3.com dont have storys on it, for instance). It certainly fits the quirky style games I love, and if it gets half-decent reviews, I'll be getting it. Omar - Thank you for registering to inform us. Any change of a video of it in action any time soon? ![]() or if you need pre-release alpha demo testers I'm sure a few of us wouldnt mind looking at the *.nds file ![]()

Oh, and I'm with Darkflame! I'd be happy to be an alpha tester as well. |

A pre-release ROM-dump demo (for those capable of running such code on their DS, like quite a few people here) may actually get more people interested, who wouldn't normally buy the game. I don't think any companies have released any like that though, mainly I guess because such devices are seen as devices purely for piracy.

A lot of small developers use those devices to start with before they get official dev kits.
Developers know they arnt just for piracy. (as a homebrew user I really hate that image thats forced on us). The problem is a lot of developers are tied into strict publishers who wont allow previews before the game is ready. Or even screenshots without permision. Of course, developers also may be scared of early negative press jumping to conclusions over an unfinnished game. Quote:
I think the game needs to be seen moving to understand it more personaly.

I love the main character(and maybe the only one, lol) I know that the game isn't exactly a Fred Raynal's creation but wth certainly this have Adeline style. I'm happy but still waiting for the game with Ubisoft
