Golden Sun had lots of stratergy
I used the summons 90% of the time

The key I found was getting a good circle up with the summons, then using their powers seperately. Could dispatch some of the boss's quite quickly if you worked out their weekness too.

Quote:
The thing I'm saying, is just that they should focus more on games like zelda and LBA, but not the battle system only, also the freedom of movement and the puzzles.
Freedom of movement is essiential, which is why Golden Sun was so good.
You get a rather big area, then...suddenly...it gets even more massive once you ability to move increases (GS1>>GS2).
That just made it feel epic.
And the way you felt like going to different parts of the world. ("I know, ill go back there for a bit, got lots to do around that area" or "I havnt explored that bit back ages ago...now I can go there!")

Again, the puzzles were good too.
Very pokemon-ish with the powers effective the landscae actualy, but better

My point was really, that turn-based and real-time are good for different things.

As usual, I can't win an arguement with you DF

Hobmoblin: Yeah I fought. He was the only boss where it were the summons that made my victory. Some sort of quick combination of summons and the hope that he didn't make a djinn storm or whatever it was called.

I wondered when Id get a comment like that

Liner moters for force feedback would give the stick a "jerking back and forward" motion.......purely for the re-coil effect on gun games, I can assure you

Has anyone seen this? http://www.jadrule.tk/

Many are claiming it as a hoax. I have emailed to find out more info - though I doubt I'll get a response. Otherwise I guess I'll have to wait until April 11th.

I was just about to post it

It might well be real, the "problems" the X-Link people where having could have been got around by a custom firm-ware patch to the wi-fi card. (&or custom drivers)
Tricky, but certainly not impossible like they made out.

If there a team of 8 people working for a few months, I can easily see they have done it. It might well be a hoax...but its a lot of effort to go too. (and you would have thought they would have done in April 1st wouldnt you?).

Still, dosnt mater.
E3 = Nintendos own online system

And the Warppipe team have just annouced DeMasked as some sort of hyper-easy method for developers to get there DS games online. (apperently they dont need severs so im gueseing something bizare like a p2p system).

So you wait for years for an online Nintendo product, and 3 come along at once

LOL.....Exactly my thoughts, but then why not shout from the rooftops? The email reply I got makes me dubuious

I reckon the Ninty thing will be some software which as you suggest works like a server on every PC running DS so you indeed end up with Ninty P2P. However, I'd still liek to get non wifi stuff online

Its obviously not a hoax. You will see on the 11th. We cant reveal any info about the loophole. We want to be the only ones tunneling DS.

Indeed.
Hard to tell yet.
I always side with people that say stuff is possible, rather then impossible, btw.
("The man who says it can not be done is often interupted by the person doing it")

If they have indeed got a good method for it to work, then I understand them wanting to keep it under wraps for now.
However ,I am fearfull they might want to charge for there solution

Just read their (very) original review of Yoshi's Touch and Go. I'm convinced, I'm getting a DS. Sony, you can't compare

If only there was a cheap place to buy it. Oh well, by the time it's cheap, there will be more games too, and the old ones will be cheap(er)

Im trying to resist buying Touch and Go at the moment
I got too much too do.
Kirby looks good as well. Both kinda the same genra (side scrawling platfomers?)...but Kirby seems to be more sonic-like, and kirby more mario-like.

Incidently a few sites are now saying Metroid hunters is going be online.
Not sure how reliable the sites are, but it seems a smart move if it is.

I'm just gonna assume you're gonna correct this . Anyway, yeah, they very similar, but I think you get a different expirience from both. Besides, I really liked that mario game where you control Yoshi and carry mario around, so missing out on this one, would be a shame I think.
For now, Kirby's cursed Canvas, seems like the game that uses the touch screen best by now (come on! a completely new way of moving!) so I'm sure not gonna miss out on that either.

Neither am I.
But Im just compareing videos.
Yoshi looks more like a platform puzzle game, where Kirby is more an action platform game.

I think they both are part of the same, new, genra...but are still dramaticaly different in the same way sonic and mario are.

IGN has lots more pics and info on this RTS game.
To start with it gets rid of the myth that the DS cant do 3D on both screens at once, and secondly...16 player Wi-fi RTS? nice!

I thought DS could only manage 3d on 2 screens if

A) one screen uses GBA style 3d (ie low res)
B) The ARM 9 processor splits itself to render each screen alternatively therby reducing the refresh of both to around 30fps instead of 60

Theres two processors in the DS, an ARM7 (GBA) running at twice the GBA clock speed, and an ARM9, which is significantly more powerfull.

However, theres no real "rules" as to what processors do what screen, or what else.
Most developers seem to be using the ARM9 for 3D, and just forgetting about the ARM7 completely. (or using it for sound, or 2D images ect)

But they dont have too.
Personaly, Im waiting for some smart developer to use both chips to produce the graphics on one screen. Should be able to get texture-filtered stuff, or purhapes advanced shadeing effects.

People do underestimate the ARM7.
Heres a GBA Rom that demos what it can do:
http://www.gbadev.org/download.php?s...etic_voxel.zip
(dont worry, its legal, and so are emulators, so there)

The DS could do that same voxal techique at double the resolution. And still have its main chip left over

The voxel demo is impressive hwoever I feel that it's not really the same quality as the ARM 9 output. The ARM 9 could be used to support both screens 3d with the ARM7 either controlling filtering or smoothing the framerate...I look forward to developments

Pandy: linky!

DF: That's very impressive. I truly underestimated the GBA. It's also butt ugly, but putting it into perspective, it's very impressive.

I thought it was official that the DS couldo only use 3D on one screen at the time.

Yes, the GBA could push out a lot in skilled hands.
There was even a 3D Platform game released on it
Not bad either, lots of distortion, but framerate was ok and it was playable.

Voxals are very good way to get 3D on low-end systems, its a shame so few developers use them. With the DS, using both chips, you could probably push out a voxal landscape 4-6 times the resolution of that GBA demo.
...which, imo, would be great graphics for a game.
I think he uglyness would go as soon as the squares are small enough.

It was never official. No clue where it started actualy.

Some interesting inforamtion was given out a few days ago by Peter Molyneaux of Lionhead. Populous jokes aside - this looks very intriguing: Taken from CVG it is referring to project Dimitri which has been in action since around 1999.

Quote:
Concluding our talk with: "We're doing lots of Fable stuff at the moment, lots of Black & White 2 stuff, lots of Movies stuff ...and we've also got this project called Dimitri, which I can now give you a tiny bit more detail on."

"I can tell you what the game's about ...would you like to know what the game's about?" Of course we would...

"It's a game about [pause for dramatic drum roll] ...you. It allows anyone who plays the game to relive their life, their entire individual life. That's a pretty ambitious concept." While our jaw dropped to the floor, Lionhead PR hastily intervened with the effect of a virtual gagging order.
On a different note this guy must have THE most impressive games collection I have ever seen! http://www.nescapades.com/gameroom.htm

and my friends say I am a big gaming freak. That is a hell of a load of games, I like the way he has the "Xbox" and "Playstation 2" sections and also the way that the gamecube games are in the xbox section.

Looky: There are gamecube games (and others) in the xbox section.
