Thread Revival!

Oblivion is out in the UK (and Europe) tomorrow. Anyone gonna get it? I'm ordering the collectors edition when I get paid (coincidentally tomorrow as well) hopefully it'll run on my system because I just upgraded my graphics card (Radeon X700 (I know it's not the best, but runs Doom 3 on high settings with FSAA*2 at 1024*768 at 25 - 60fps) instead of Radeon 9000pro).

I need it! Altough I'm sure my pc won't run it and if it will, with very low detail and still very slow...

I hope they will release a demo soon so I can try it. But I definatly need it soon!

(Finished Bloodmoon and Tribunal, Morrowind's expansions a while back aswell btw. Still one of my favourite games ever.)

1. They won't release a demo.

2. If you liked Morrowind you will probably like this one as well.

3. If you don't like Morrowind, I would wait until the price drops before considering to buy this game.

I've been playing it for a couple of days. I can barely run it with my 2-year old system: AMD Athlon XP 2800+ / 1024 MB / Ati Radeon 9800 Pro, 800x600 and pretty much medium settings. I must say this is a typical game where graphics do matter as it's part of the whole gaming experience in this case, so it's too bad about that.

It's pretty nice. I never got started very well with Morrowind but Oblivion progresses nicely so far, either I'm better at playing now or it's been made more accessable .

I'm a level 3 assassin, member of the thieves guild. I would post a pic of my character+stats but I haven't figured out how to make screenshots properly yet (printscreen is disabled or something).

I'm going to wait until it goes budget. I don't feel this game is worth the full price.

ive just playd Oblivion for the past 12 hours....bloody lovn it, i was great fan of morrowind, and was worried oblivion wasnt going 2 live up 2 the massive amout of hype that has surrounded the game as of late, but i can safely say, after 12 hours, its an awsome game, very well done, there are quite a few bugs, but gameplay is awsome, graphics r awsome and sound is awsome.

really top game, glad i brought it.

Haha, could a PC gamer confirm this?

I heard that the mouse controls for Oblivion can't be changed.

You can change sensivity and swap the Y-axis movements, but yeah I don't think you can change the mouse buttons settings.

yeah, there are quite a few little anoying bugs ive discoverd, the worst 1 is that the voices of different characters, u can speak 2 a npc, and they change voice compltely.
The voices are recorded at different volumes, so some npc's sound really loud one sentence then the next, thier quite soft.
a major thing that i dont like is that, the items the shop keepers sell and the items u find are based upon ur level, so no daradec long sword till u profress quite a bit, whereas in morrowind u could get this stuff earlier on in the game.
been playn for another 12 hours 2day and overall with those minor things aside, it is a bloody good game, and i go by my post above in describing it.

Yeah I noticed that about the voices too, I suspected it had something to do with fancy 3D audio settings but couldn't find it anywhere in the options. I know I've fixed similar problems by setting like output to 'stereo' where possible.

To me the game crashed a few times when doing one particular subquest, took a few times before I got through it in whole, otherwise it seems to be a pretty stable product. Similar bugs might occur in other subquests / locations though.

It runs smooth most of the time, but some areas/situations still cause heavy framedrops. Also it's not pretty at all, so it ruins a lot of the atmosphere. You really need an up to date pc for this. Or an Xbox 360 .

I've been told that oblivion scales quite well, e.g. much better than morrowind did

(Perhaps it's an idea to split this thread up from this post into a new "Oblivion" thread)

(and delete this post too )

Now I really know I need a new computer for this... Those graphics don't do justice to the game.

With a bit of antialiasing, higher texture resolution and the lighting upped a bit it wouldn't look have bad and would probably run quite well.

It's a mix of opinions.

The scaling system in Oblivion is constructed in such a way that most generic enemies and loot levels up with you. That means that every dungeon you enter is pretty much equal to the level you're at. Same goes for the goods being sold in the market and the type of stuff you'll find in killed foes.

Some poeple like that, I for one, do not.
