LBA2 Car Bug - Have done what the guide says

In LBA 2 my car still doesnt steer properly, even after doing what the guide says... Copying the file seemed to have made the problem worse, now i cant steer left or right, while before i could steer left.
Has anyone else had the car still not work after copying the file, or am i screwed?

I had that problem too, except the car started to work for a bit, and then got worse again.

I already forgot what it's like that the car doesn't work properly; I think it's been fine for me for a few years already.

It was always fine for me and I was never aware of the bug until we got a new computer...

I remember El saying the problem was with Direct X. I think he knows best what's wrong.

it was with the Input .dll core files within DirectX ... LBA doesn't seem to work properly with 9.0 + versions of DirectX ... you can notice that a simmilar thing happens with the newer graphic cards which use advanced DirectX technology

The car bug is odd.
Some people don't have the bug on their system even tho they use DirectX 7 or newer.
Some people do have the problem when installing DirectX 7 or newer. The dinput.dll fix apperently doesn't work for everybody.

What you could try is replace the dinput.dll with other versions from various directx versions. I tried the same to fix the sound issue.

to fix the sound issue you need to replace the MSS32.DLL with one from some other games (that worked for me).

Quetch> I useD windows XP

wth... I just tested it and I no longer have a car problem, without the old dinput.dll it works perfectly.

I know ... if I install it on Win98 , ,it works perfectly from the start ... I don't even have to install the patch ... but OH !!! the computer is a weak PIII so that's why it gets along with LBA ... but if I put it on my next generation computer using WinXP , everithing goes wild ..... I think there are lots of factors which make this bug ... dunno

More than 3 years later and no more posts. But I didn't find a newer thread about it. So it goes here.
I also can't fix this bug. Copying dinput.dll didn't change anything. The car can't steer left or right in most of the places (it works properly depending of where you are - example: where the car is received. But if you go out of there, quickly the problem reappear). It's the only bug remaining for me... Has someone discovered a different solution?
I didn't test with dosbox. Does it work properly?
Thanks.

Obs.: I use Windows XP.

We're aware that the current fix doesn't really work for most people. But there's no other solution to it. People have reported no problems with using DosBox though, so you should try that.
