Does any one have...

A more precise list of what the lba1/2 files on the cds are than the lbadecomp help file? If you know what i mean.
I mean, can someone tell me what all the files are?

It's so embarrasing, you know.

okay, i'm trying to work this out as i go along, so some of these are probably going to be wrong, and i'm not sure of the extentions of some of them (this applies to the LBA2 cd only).

Okay...

.hqr files

.hqr files seem to contain 3d models for the most part, but then again....sometimes not

body.hqr contains all of the models for the characters used in the game, i think everyone knows this

anim.hqr and anim3ds.hqr contain animations. I would guess that anim.hqr contains animations for things which move in two dimentions, i.e. up & down, perhaps it just contains information on how to move them though (perhaps things like the turtle in desert island), anim3ds i would guess contains things like twinsen's running or crouching animations, as well as animations like this for other characters (presumably the 3ds on the end stands for 3d studio, the file format).

holomap.hqr i would guess pretty obviously contains the 3ds file for the holomap.

Text.hqr, as mentioned in the lbadecomp help file, contains text, for the subtitles.

objfix.hqr would contain the 3ds files for objects which don't move in the game, like oil drums etc.

scene.hqr i think would contain all of the 3ds files for the maps used in the game, like citadel island etc

lba_bkg.hqr i'm guessing would contain all of the backdrops you see for the maps, perhaps in .3ds format, maybe just as images, i'm not sure.

Spiraw.hqr, sprites.hqr, ress.hqr, lba2.hqr, screen.hqr, and samples.hqr, i have absolutely no idea about, anyone else know?

Presumably one (possibly lba2.hqr) must contain information about the menus.

Lba2.dos

This file appears to start the french dos version of LBA2 directly from the CD with no need to install! i had no idea about this, and its really quite interesting, not sure about how useful it is though. You can open it by opening an MS-DOS prompt (on the start menu under programs) and going to X:\ (where X is your cd-rom drive letter), then typing Lba2.

Lba2.cfg

This file is the config file for LBA2 and contains all of the game's options. This is copied directly to your hard drive during installation and used when the game starts up to determine your settings. You can open and edit it manually by opening it in notepad or wordpad or similar.

adeline.log

the game log file, as it says when you open it. I'm guessing this one is copied directly to your hard drive too.

anything with setup or install in it are used for the installation. the .dll files are drivers to make the game work with your hardware i would presume.

.ile and .obl files

These are used in connection with the maps (theres one of each type for each map). If you take a look in the lba3d thread at the moment, theres something about files being loaded up with the map that tell the computer where to place objects and what properties these objects should have. Perhaps this is what these files do? It will be something along those lines anyway, it'll tell the computer which map files, which background files, which animation files, which object files, which character files, which text files etc need to be loaded up with each map, and what properties all of these should have.

These are the files:

Ascence : no idea
Celebrat & Celebra2 : celebration island before and after the ceremony
Citadel : citadel island
Citabau : no idea
Desert : desert island
Emeraude and moon : presumably both for emerald moon, perhaps one for inside and one for outside?
Knartas : no idea
Llotcx : island CX
Mosquibee : Island of the mosquibees
Otringal : otringal
Platform : not entirely sure, maybe the island of the wannies or the francos, being as it has the platform between the undergas and above?
Souscelb : no idea

The ones that i have no idea about presumably represent some of the following:

Island of the francos
Island of the wannies
Temple of Bu
Dissident's hideout in the undergas
The island off desert island with the skeletons
The island of the dome of the slate

Not sure which ones though, or in which order.

there are also instald.scr, instale.scr and instalf.scr which i think might be the screens you see behind the installation.

/config

seems to contain installation files (again?), i get an error about not being able to find an application key when i run it, but then it carries on anyway.

/DirectX

Contains the information needed to install directx.

/drivers

contains the drivers and stuff....

/[language]

Contains the information for installation in the specific languages.

/Music

Contains the music used in the game (yay!), logadpcm.wav is the music for when the game starts up and you see the adeline logo, jadpcm[#].wav are short mood pieces, and tadpcm[#].wav are the longer pieces of music.

/save

is copied directly to your harddrive and used to store the savegame files, obviously

/vox

i think that the .vox files contain images or textures that are used in game (i presume vox stands for voxels, which is the system used to create the game i think).

/video

contains video.hqr, which i presume contains the movies used in the game

and thus ends the complete guesswork as to what is on the lba2 cd. This WAS complete guesswork, its nothing that anyone else couldn't have worked out pretty easily, but i decided to post it anyway, so there

Lembo...

**EDIT** oh, and in /unsupp, theres a game called popcorn made by Frederik Raynal and Christophe Lacaze. Go try it out

Lembo> Some nice guesswork there as you said

As far as we know, the LBA1 and 2 models have their own file format, different from .3ds. Anim3ds.hqr like you said would contain the walking or movement append animation for each character model.

actualy ... the lba2.dos is the DOS executable for the game, LBA2.exe will call lba2.dos when it is running in dos instead of windows.
