Favourite songs and why?

Favourite songs and why?

Hi peeps. I was a bit bored so I thought I’d join here. Being a fan of all kinds of music I wanted to know what U people liked. I can tell what people are like by there taste in music. Here are a few of mine

Very favourite song : ‘Rebirth of the flesh’ by Prince (You’ve probably never heard it)

Favourite all time artist : ‘Prince’ (Prince=Music)

Oldest favourite song : ‘In-a-gadda-da-vida’ (the wonderful 15 minute master piece with massive drum solo. Also I love the fact that it was meant to be called ‘In the garden of Eden‘ but the guy wrote it while he was drunk.

Latest favourite song : Tainted love by M. Manson. (I know it’s been out a while but there haven’t been many good songs since. I always thought this was a cool song but this version just blows my mind)

80’s pop : ‘99 Red balloons’ by Nena (Cos this has both lovely vocals and very funky in places)

90’s pop : ‘I love U baby’ by The original (Lovely pop/slight R&B feel)

Rap : ‘Hello’ by Ice Cube (Ice cube is my favourite rapper and the music excels here)

Funk : ‘Word up’ by Cameo (Can’t get enough of this song) or anything by George Clinton (Music beast)

Rock : ‘99 Red balloons’ by Gold finger (Again I love the song, and this version is sooo passionate)

Favourite alternate : ‘Smells like teen spirit’ by Nirvana (U just can’t not like this song)

Dance : Anything by Prodigy (Great music and performers) or ‘Tha horns of Jericho’ by DJ Supreme (bought the single on day of release, used to watch music channels on cable for weeks before it came out because I only ever heard about it from the video)

Romantic : ‘Lady in red‘. (All the elements are really light and simple yet it’s so effective. Great vocals, straight from the heart stuff)

Classical : ‘Beethoven’s 9th’ (To be honest I’ve heard little classical but I like this)

Comedy : ‘Smells like Nirvana’ by Weird Al (Genius)

Guilty pleasure : ‘Them girls’ by Zig and Zag (It’s just too funny) or ‘Boom Boom Boom’ by the Outhere Brothers (So many memories)

What are yours ?

I love everything of Linkin Park.
I also like a lot of other bands, like Papa Roach and A.A.F.
And I like a lot of other songs.
I mostly like rockbands, but I also like other kinds of music; I think the Sugababes make great music, especially the song Stronger.

My all-time favourite song is Crawling by Linkin Park.

I have two favourite songs; Sorrow by Bad Religion and May 16 by Lagwagon.
-May 16 for the breathtaking guitar riffs
-Sorrow for the beautiful lyrics.

May 16
No more waiting on them
as you rise inside new rooms
It's official, you've gone
You can live for no one else
Man the guilt must be huge
As there's no gain in failure
You succeed at being mine
And, old friend, see you there
I will be proud from afar
I can paint a picture in a moment
of memories, and there aren't many left
I am extradited, uninvited
It's just another Saturday

Take a step to freedom
You and her loathing this cruel world
Take a breath of shelter, and exhale
Trust and allegiance
Liberate yourself from hell
It's just another Saturday

Sorrow
Father can you hear me?
How have I let you down?
I curse the day that I was born
And all the sorrow in this world

Let me take you to the herding ground
Where all good men are trampled down
Just to settle a bet that could not be won
Between a plightful father and his son

Father, guide me now, for I can't see
A reason for the suffering and this long misery
What if every living soul could be upright and strong?
Well then, I do imagine
There will be (sorrow)
Yeah there will be (sorrow)
And there will be sorrow no more

When all soldiers lay their weapons down
Oh, when all kings and all queens relinquish their crowns
Oh, when the only true messiah rescues us from ourselves
It's easy to imagine
There will be (sorrow)
Yeah there will be (sorrow)
And there will be sorrow no more

Here are the song lyrics for a few of the greatest songs of all time:

Downer - Nirvana

Portray sincerity
Act out of loyalty
Defend your free country
Wish away the pain
Hand out lobotomies
To save little families
Surrealistic fantasy
Bland, boring pain!

Holy now in restitution
Living out our date with Fusion
In our whole fleece shun in bastard
Don't feel guilty, master writing

Somebody said that they're not much like I am, I know I can
Make enough up the words as you go along, I sing then some

Sickening pessimist hypocrite master
Conservative Communist apocalyptic bastard
Thank you Dear God for putting me on this Earth
I feel very privileged in debt for my thirst!

Holy now in restitution
Living out our date with Fusion
In our whole fleece shun in bastard
Don't feel guilty, master writing

Somebody said that they're not much like I am, I know I can
Make enough up the words as you go along, I sing then some

I love this cos it's just so dark and monotonous - then comes the mini chorus - it's wonderfully violent.

Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana

She eyes me like a pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your Heart-Shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn back (Alt: ... when you turn black)

Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait! (Alt: Hate! Haight!)
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Your advice

Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on angel's hair and baby's breath
Broken hymen of your highness I'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back

Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Your advice

She eyes me like a pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your Heart-Shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn back (Alt: ... when you turn black)

Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice

Your advice (x3)

These really are some of the greatest song lyrics ever - this coupled with a musical score that always makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

Re: Favourite songs and why?

Very favourite song :The Clansman, by Iron Maiden

Favourite all time artist : Osdorp Posse & Iron Maiden

Oldest favourite song : Aces High, by Iron Maiden

Latest favourite song : Psycho Circus, by Kiss

80’s&90's pop : Pop sucks, but I'd go for a Michael Jackson song, like Black&White, Thriller, or Smooth Criminal.

Rap : Everything from the Osdorp Posse (the 1st Dutch rapcrew)

Rock : Almost all of Iron Maiden's songs

Favourite alternate : Iron Maiden, but (for a change) Deep, by Anathema

Romantic : Dreams come true, by Hammerfall

You know, the music industry brings it on itself. CDs should not be £15 >_>

No, DJ. This is different
The artist doesn't get this money, almost everything goes to the record company, and not to the artist.

So, indeed, cd's shouldn't be thát expensive. Record companies want to control everything, anybody still remembers:

If it was the companies' idea: everyone should get cd's pushed though the throat. Everything is way to much hyped.
----
But indeed, if you like a cd, you HAVE TO buy it, to support the artist a bit (that's why I have 7 LBA2 copies).

Besides, like the Osdorp Posse once said in one of their songs:
"There's making music and making money, and those things don't mix". (Translated from Dutch).

I agree Homer. Especially I know is bad when my Dad comes home and says "We need to get KaZaA, some of the guys at work have it" after a few months beforehand he bitched me out for having it on the computer.

Do you actually think about supporting the artist when buying a CD?

I refuse to buy/listen to Metallica (besides the fact that IMHO they aren't as good as Aerosmith or Black Sabbath).
