Google map for LBA

You know what would be cool. If we could create a google map like thing for Twinsun, Emerald moon and Zeelich.
Just like they did for World of Warcraft. Ofcourse this would require quite some work. The programming part of it might be the least work of all.
We need quite some image material. Also we might need to split up the Twinsun map into an LBA1 and LBA2 version.
I don't know how feasable it actually is.

So what do you think?

If enugh people are interested in working on this project i'll create a project forum for it so we can start planning and working.

I'm interested. Would be cool to have something like that. Finally all those maps I made of LBA1 and 2 years ago have a purpose. We need to draw the whole maps then right? Or did you just want to paste the original maps on the globe?

we need to have topview LBA screenshots.
If I remember it correctly, some member here once made a program that could display LBA2 outside scene's in any possible angle. That should be the solution for LBA2 maps.

Thanks, it was what I expect.

Could be a nice ideia but kind dificult to do so.
Well with the higher zoom we could show the entire LBA map, without characters.
The lowest zoom we could make an image like the one used to fill the Twinsun globe in the game.
Then try to make something similar for what we have from that pic.

This is a really good idea. I think the LBA1 and LBA2 maps should be included in the same program, and you should be able to switch between them (kind of like switching between map or satellite view in Google Maps). Although that could be difficult given the difference in maps between the two games (particularly with the White Leaf Desert I think).

How do you want them displayed then? Views from the top aren't possible in LBA1. Or are we going for a isometric display of maps?
Or just an low-detail version with only colors for buildings, much like the 'map' version of the google earth maps.

Well that's the whole deal. We need to figure out stuff like that. Maybe we need to recreate the maps by hand
The end result would be better tho.

I think making them from top view is do-able. If we would have a basic set of tiles drawn, all we would need to do is paste them together like they are on the original maps.

Yes, this is the way to do it, imo.

We have the LBA1 data format pretty sorted dont we?
Once we make an overhead view of each tile, it should be possible to even automate it for all data that is knowen.

There would still be work filling the blanks, but it would result in the most accurate map. (to LBA1, that is)
