It's "content aware", it resizes the whole image while keeping the important details unresized.

Indeed.

More precisely, it looks for areas of low contrast in the image...that is, seams along which "not much happens", it then either removes these seams first if your shrinking, or dubbles these seams up more if you are enlarging.

For instance, virtual resizes often removes the sky if its bland.

Buildings, often remove empty walls, but leave windows. (which looks funny if you take it too extremes )

Gimp seems to keep text fully readable after resize too, which straight resize doesn't.

But I assume this one is way more advanced, seeing it is a lot slower.

More of a gimmik than for any actual use. It only works because the parts broken off are always the same - if a leg was split in two it'd be screwed. Besides, a chair that doesn't self destruct in the first place would be a lot cheaper and probably have a much longer life.

Those modular blocks would be better for more use's.

Heh, you can just imagine in the future lego bricks that do the same thing, and make your entire model for you.

Well, you'd build in the AR reality, and the virtual lego blocks would fill it in as you build.
(or, rather, straight after, that way you can build the inside/outside as you wished without worrying about assembling order).

Of course, wouldnt be as fun as proper lego, but would be nice and practical to actualy make functional stuff.

Space diving is actualy quite a sensible idea.
If we get the technology to safely servive falling from terminal violocity, it will be extremely usefull.

unfortuntely not.
Thanks to disney, it keeps being retroactively extended.
Its more like 1940, stupidly. (allthough somehow King Kong, 1933 is also in copyright)

70 years was the original concept in the US, allthough it varies a lot.

Sometimes things get into public domain despite all this, however.
All sorts of crazy legal stuff, but I think if a company that holds rights to something goes bankrupt without another company buying rights of them, it falls into the public.

Personaly I think copyright laws should be simple
a) The lifetime of the creator, no more.
b) The copyright only applies if the material is avaiable to buy legaly in some form. I dont see anything wrong moraly with making stuff avaible if it cant even be bought anyway.

Sadly, however, I have to go by the rules of Stage6/Veoh, which, in turn, do what their laywers tell them.
