This forum

Of all the forums I have spent too much time on, the MBN stands out as a place where everybody is given a fairly equal hearing, and where they will get responses, critical or otherwise. Other places are either too exclusive and cliquey (particularly gaming forums with a majority of 35+ year olds who go on regular forum meets at strange pubs) or faceless and sprawling and full of little children and shitty spam posts. The MBN is the perfect balance; friendly, familiar, and fair.

YEAH.

Yes! Thank you. I've been telling that for years to everyone who's been bitching and moaning about this forum being a dictatorship/oppresive place.

Cheers, we try to keep it that way.

I believe in the principle of the least enforcement often gives the nicest societys.
When you are really strict you only encourage people to look for gaps in the rules, because they no longer feel moral obliged to controll their behavour themselfs.

Yep, the farther away from being a police state - the better.

Bureaucracy sucks... humans and strict rules never go well together. That's what distinguishes us from robots.

Yeh, it's a bit of a mumbo jumbo.

Well, I suppose you start off by saying "Autho" like in "Author." Then you say "rita," as in that Latino girl you know from next door. Then you say "ria," as in "Ria de Ribadeo." Finally, you finish it off with a simple "nism," like "Chinism" or "Japanism." Then you put it all together.

Autho-Rita-Ria-Nism.

That's interesting. I would have suggested something more like:

Autho-Rit-Air-E-An-Ism.

I suppose that shows the different in dialect.

I don't think so. Try saying them both smoothly, I've done mine more phonetically though.
UK and USA do have some noticable differences when it comes to pronounciation.
Noticably alluminium.

This forum rocks. It took me a few years, a brief absence, and some common sense to realize that.

I love you guys. (Seriously).

Well, geez man. Everybody wants this or that, but we can't always get what we want. Yeh man, you know? Sometimes you just gotta deal with what you got, man. That's the gospel truth.

I actually find it surprising that you two out all of people should think that the mbn shouldn't be a police state!

Len: El is a good dictator. Police state means that people are afraid to do anything illegal or against the rules because they'll get beaten up for it.

"FunFrock set up a police state where suspicion is omnipresent."

Kin: I'm full of surprises.

How does a "good dictator" uphold his power and status as dictator?

The MBN is definitely not a dictatorship.
