Thread revivals

Due to the recent cases with many pointless thread revivals, I thought some things need to be clarified. In my opinion, reviving a thread is fine, as long as it's for a legitimate reason.

Legitimate reasons are:
  • You didn't answer the original question of the thread yet.
  • A question recently asked in a new thread.
  • FAQ questions
Non-legitimate reasons to revive a thread:
  • A stupid comment about a post not really related to the thread (especially if someone commented on that already).
  • A topic not relevant any more (especially birthday threads).

Another thing about thread revivals: comments like "The dates! The dates" or "you revived the thread for this?" are stupid and should be avoided.

I hope I said it all. Got something to add to the list?

Basically: never revive a thread, unless you have a very good reason to.

I'm not that annoyed by thread revival.

I'm more anoyed by threads being revived and the 4 last posts are about how stupid it is to revive threads

if you wish to let a thread die, don't come with stupid things like "oh gee, the dates", "Yeah man, it's over time." "Oh gee, does that make the thread pregnant?"

Yes, I commented on that too. I'm one of the persons doing this actually, but I'll try to stop with that.

I don't mind thread revival at all.
What's the big deal?

And what if the topic isn't relevant any more?

Now, that's a bit insulting. I was working on this list to help reducing the amount of spam in this forum, and the only comments I get are "yes, yes" (homeless), a post just summarizing everything I said (wacko), a post asking people to do something, when I actually mentioned it (Atre), someone who doesn't care about thread revivals (anakin) and now you telling me not to bother. If a mod would right such a list, then everyone would say "bow down to the great mod!".

We are all very sorry for having our own opinions, oh lord Morshem. [/sarcasm]

Come on, you can't get angry at people because they don't see things your way.
You actually complain about the comments you get, because those weren't the ones you wanted??? then why put something up on a forum anyway?
You know what: you just go talk to yourself all day, and then you can decide everything in the conversation

Alright people.....I know that Morshem can get on your nerves a little, Hell, sometimes he even gets on mine! ( search for threads contaning me punching Morshem in the face, telling him to f*** off, etc.) BUT, he is a nice person when hes not correcting people and I think that we ought to give him a little credit for trying to keep order in this place.
