I didn't know where on the web to ask this, so...

I had 16GB free, and I installed the Phantom Menace (135MB).
Then (because of the install), I had 15.9GB free.

Yesterday I un-installed the game, but I had 15.8GB free!

What happened?

Probably the Windows swap-file. This is a file which is used if you're using more RAM memory than you actually have. Then Windows creates a file on your harddisk which is called virtual memory (how logic). This file is sometimes larger and sometimes smaller, afer unistalling that game it was probably larger.

Also try to run scandisk, sometimes a corrupt file looks much bigger than it actually is (one time I recovered 2 gig using scandisk after many months of not scandisking - I'm too lazy ).

One last thing: try to clean c:\windows\temp, c:\temp and c:\tmp (when they exist) by deleting all files and directories in it.

Have you got Norten Unerase?
If so you have to 'Empty Protected Files' to clear the game.

Swap file...

Don't be picky about 200 MB, it's normal that applications sometimes use some more space.

Are you using Windows ME?

If so that damned OS hoards hundreds of megabytes in the System Restore directory. I once found over 1GB of stuff in there, you can disable it though the Control Panel => System => Performance => File System => Troubleshooting menu. It's useless anyway, as if it's ever gonna fix a problem you get with windows!

Everybody who has a Mac says:
"Oh, look at me! I have a bugless Mac!"
And it doesn't support good apps.

that's not true.indeed macs r not bugfree.the apps r also many as the pc apps.u probably don't know that many apps like excel fist was on a mac the on a pc and many others.also macs r faster than any pc.for example a G4 cobe(wich ahs dual G4) in 600MHz is even fatser than a pc in 900 or even 1GHz(i've tryied both and know better).macs also support about 2GB RAM(somethink that pc's will make about 3 years to do)

wow... correction here. PC's do support 2 GB ram, but windows doesn't :P Use linux and you can use up to 64GB of RAM, you have build your own mobo for that.. but anyway.. it is possible. The only reason why a Mac performs better then a plain PC with Windows is that the hardware and software are 99% compatible. The software is written for the hardware.
An other correction, excel has never been on a Mac, excel is a M$ product, the first spreadsheet on the mac was Lotus123 (was the one of the first spreadsheet anywhere btw). There are a lot of good programs for the Mac, just think of any Adobe programs. A Mac is the best choice for a DTP'er because the Mac has a very high graphic quality, graphical calculations on a Mac are much faster then on a PC because the the hardware is designed together.. That's the power of the Mac.
