It doesn't SUCK per se,it just needs more.It needs to be longer (each stage bar the cell stage),more polished (space combat, the sheer AMOUNT of times you'll be attacked/have to fix a bio disaster/have to rebuild your turrets that don't do a damn thing and can only take ONE hit before being destroyed REALLY gets old),and some more tools and parts and such. But in the add ons, expansions, patches and sequels that are to come they will have plenty of opportunities to do so.Hopefully they will also appeal to the more hard-core gamers once Spore has sold well enough.

They have been working on Spore for like....5 years.

And the game needs more?

Face it, it sucks. Specially compared to what it could be.

Well, iPod classic is no match for what iPhone and Touch can do, specwise, control and visually. Seems pointless for them to even have ported it to the thing.

I'm still pretty sure Spore WONT be seeing the load of addons that Sims did.
Will Wright was strongly infering in some interviews that he never liked that, and would rather pursue the technological/gameplay development, rather then merely adding new modules onto existing gameplay.

I'd expect a few patchs, lots more services, and a sequal.
Maybe even lisencing the tech to other firms.

Well compared to what it was going to be ORIGINALLY yes it sucks. But as a game itslef? It's pretty fun.Far too short though. Not enough depth.Maybe with Spore 2 he'll make it more hard core.I pray he will anyway.

Yyeeaahhh I've Spore for 2 weeks or so now. (Illegal download! )
Cause I did't want to spent that much on a game. (60 euro's)
I can't play it online but that doesn't bother me.
I've come to the space-fase but I started over.
Now I'm in te 2nd Creature-fase which I like most, you know I got all things Level-5.
Awesome game.

Spore is now one of the highest illigally downloaded games in history, with over half a million pirated downloads.

They wont.
Developers know all to well, but its the publishers who are ignorant as shit and fall for companys like Sony saying "Look?!! See how much Spore was pirated! That SHOWS how much you need SecurROM!"

Blizzard released a patch for StarCraft which makes it possible to play the game without CD this year. I'm getting my hopes up for StarCraft II without DRM crap.

Seems weird they'd be that stupid. After all their primary and only objective is to make money.

Well, you explain why they keep doing it. Spore wasnt the first, theres been simerla backlash's against Bioshock, The Sims, Mass Effect....and before that even audio CD's were effected by it.

The only one profiting from it is those saling the DRM systems.

Well the new Spore patch made it laggy enough to make me stop playing.I don't want to waste a reinstall just to get rid of it...

And that nicely explains another problem with DRM.

I think you just gota wait, it seems a lot of people have a lag problem with the new patch.

Technically, you waste an reinstall only when you make a major change to your system.

But I know what you mean.

I had to use both my reinstalls to fix it...on the plus side it's working fine now,and I realize I can improve most of the graphics to "medium" without much of an impact on framerate

On a related note,my improved Esmer Shuttle

I tightened the windows a bit and fixed the wings and engines some more.

For some reason, when I put the legs before, they looked fine in pics and the Editor, but when the ship is actually being flown, the legs became all twisted and wrong looking so I decided to do away with em.If you want to try it be my guest, but please upload the improved version

Coupla tips for ya Sporians.

To unlock all base creature parts (aside from the two other mouth types) for the Creature stage,on the early CC (the editor between Cell and Creature where you appear to be underwater) do NOT place legs on your creature.Instead, place one of each part (mouths, eyes, weapons and propulsion parts) EXCEPT the Electric Sac (the one that gives you charm). You should have EXACTLY enough DNA to do this. When you get to creature (once you're at your nest) you can edit your creature any way you like, knowing you've unlocked all base parts, and therefore with enough exploring, all parts (cept mouths)
I've done this myself so I KNOW it works.

For Space stage Spice, when you find planets with purple or pink spice, don't colonize them.Instead place a non-sentient creature, use a monolith, and return when they're in Space as well. Then establish a trade route, and buy the system from them. You will then possess a purple spice planet with around 7 cities!Enjoy.

It's confirmed there will be an expansion to Spore this November (18th possibly) entitled "Spore:Cute and Creepy".It's just a parts pack from what I've heard (creature parts, vehicle and building parts etc.),but for $20 it better add a couple hundred more parts...
