Twinsen LBA 2 Fanart: Twinsen And The Camel

Wow, have I been away for a long time! My last post was a few months ago. If I am wrong, maybe many more months. Anyways, I hope you all still love me, and I hope we all still play LBA once in awhile. To be honest, I have not played LBA in about 4 months now. I might not be checking here very often as I used to be, though. I have been very busy for the past few months, and I have gone through almost an entire month in High School. My time seems to be very limited nowadays, but I guess I am not the only one. I get some free time here and there, but I get a lot on the weekends and on holidays. One of my favorite classes in High School are Art. This is a drawing or sketch I have made for my art class, it is the 4th drawing or sketch that I have made for my art class, and it will be graded by my Art teacher very soon. This is not very hard for all of us to guess, because it is LBA related. This is a drawing or sketch of Twinsen and one of the camels seen on Desert Island. I remember both these characters by memory, and I did not use a picture to pick out what they look like. Anyways, here is Twinsen and one of the camels.

This picture took me about over 2 hours to make. My hand ached so much after this, and graphite was rubbed all over the side of my hand I used to draw it.

What do you people think? Is this good for a 15 year old, or what?

I remember when you posted this. I was looking at some fan art months ago, and I did come across this. Twinsen's lips do look weird, but I tried to create him the way he looks in the game. I did add a few details on him that are not on the original, however. Twinsen is fatter, that is what it seems like with his tunic. Anyways, thank you.

So im not sure how much my opinion matters in this case. But Twinsen should be fatter. Yes I know he's skinny but when he wears his tunic it thickens his shape up a bit. Anyway, all around its good for a 15 yr old. Lol

That camel looks suspiciously like Dino-Fly to me.

I kind of took the idea of the rope and put it around the camel. It looks a little bit like Dino-Fly to me too.

Yeah, I know it. I have other sketches I might post, they are not LBA related, though. They look good though.

My intention is not to sound harsh, but here are some constructive criticisms:

1. Never take a pic of a pencil drawing. For the sake of the art, scan it ! Always. If you don't have a scanner do take it to someone who does.

If this is a scan, then you seriously need to adjust a few settings (brightness, etc) and most importantly press the lid of the scanner during the scanning so the image is as tightly pressed on the glass as possible.

2. Why not give some final touches to it before posting it here? maybe outline it with an ink pen, while retaining the pencil for the shadows, would greatly improve the image.

3. Give some goddamn life to your characters ! Both the camel and Twinsen are emotionless like a cactus. Work on the face more than the rest, it's where people first look at.

4. To be honest a lot of people with 15 do draw a lot better, sorry, however, if you're into it, I think you could browse a few galleries of people your age (you'll find tons in DeviantArt for example) to get some ideas, particularly on proportions and all.

sgk: Think of it this way: it's like a message in a bottle. In our world, we put a message inside a bottle to protect it while it travels through the oceans to reach some other island. In other worlds, they put a message inside an asteroid to protect it while it travels through space to reach some other planet. In this case it is a gift, a guitar, rather than just a message.

But all the advice that SGK gave you was good. Really do get on deviantart and find some pics you like and practice practice practice... it'll help you a lot.

And post those other pics. I would like to see them.
His advice was really good. I just wanted to quickly post it, and I do have a scanner, a good one too. I will have to think about posting and looking at pictures on DeviantArt. Some pictures I have seen are a little pornographic, unfortunately. I don't like those, and I hope you don't criticize me about them. I will continue to practice my art though.

I understand that you are not trying to be harsh. This is a good list of advice, too. I just wanted to quickly post this at the moment. It could have more detail into it. Thanks to you, I sound incredibly stupid now. I hope that this is not that case. I will continue to work on my art though. Now I am too scared to show my other pictures, because then you will criticize me, yet again. They don't have a dark outline, and they do have a few funky shadows. Everyone draws differently, though. Not everything is perfect. God is perfect, I don't know if you believe in God. Whatever, thanks anyways.

Like I said, I drew like you when I was 15 and I've come a long way since then but I'm nowhere near as good as I'd like to be. Everyone learns at his/her own pace. You just need to have fun with it and the more you draw the better you'll get. Everyone has room for improvement. Even people who have been artists for their whole lives. Its a never ending learning process. Nobody is perfect. We're all far from it.
And you shouldn't feel stupid. I assure you that wasn't his intention. Like I said, he's just trying to help improve you further. And the scanner vs camera subject.. scanners just pick up more detail and will make your drawing brighter so they pop. (If that makes sense..lol) I have to hold my drawings up really close to a light if I'm using a camera in order to get the quality a scanner would give. Lol
But don't sweat it. Nobody here is trying to make you feel bad. Constructive critisism is good. And that's what were giving you. stop worrying so much.
Your art is good and will keep getting better.
Sorry about that. I guess I got a bit worried. I will do my best.

What a rash thing to say. I have never shown that! What did I ever do to you?

Has he even opted into the Roofles Den? If he's concerned about mature content on Deviantart, odds are he's not going to want to visit the Den.
