Cool, because I'm almost done "acquiring" it right now. I hope it works on GeForce 7 GTX with 1gb of RAM

Oh, there are good modern game. They just aren't many. Portal came out in 2007, FYI, and it's TEH best game ever.

Depends on the game.
Portal and BG&E arnt that much longer then 4 hours themselfs, and there still well worth the money.

Other games are 50 hours, but dont pack nearly so much fun.

I think the key is diversity and repedativeness.
If its diverse without being repedative, you probably want to replay it a heck of a lot more then games that are longer but you spend 99% of the game doing the same thing.

it doesn't depend on the game that much, it depends on the individual ... we can go on and on for hours about the best games, games nowadays, old games, etc and etc ... as long as I like something, not even 100000 people can argue it ... the same goes for the rest: if a guy likes a shitty (in our opinion) game, we cannot say it's shitty ... as long as a single one of us likes it, even better, loves it, that game rules

I think that a good game is a game loved for the right reasons.
In my opinions the right reasons are anything that does the opposite of killing brain cells.

But that still depends on the game, merely the game relative to the individual.

Unless theres someone that actually values all games equally, in which case length would be the only relevant fact to dictate value.
I don't think that applys to anyone though.

I spend 150 guilders (roughly 70 euros) for LBA

the problem isn't with length, the problem is with enough worthwhile content. i.e. before the game starts repeating itself
quite some games become tedious after some point because it's the same thing over and over again.

quite some games become tedious after 50 to 60 %

Well if you have a compelling and involving story, gameplay can be repetetive, as long as you are given enough varied story stuff.

I think the answer is something between both options

I like some aspects of games that maybe no other care about. For example: I'm that type of guy that could stop his car on GTA just for looking at the sunset.

And lenght isn't something necessary for great games. Replayability is

The old good Metal Gear Solid (PSX) lasted (more or less) 10hs but you could play it over and over again.

-------------------------------------------------

Btw the LBA2 demo says: 40+ hs of gameplay!

Do you think that's true?? I don't remember well my first run.

LBA2? More like 15 hours
15 very very good hours, but 15 nethertheless.

LBA1 was much longer for me.

You guys might laugh, but I spent like 4 months on LBA1. I got stuck many times.
With LBA2, once I figured out the Tralu cave thing(I jumped from the cliffs to the path - was stuck with finding that cave for months.....), it was just a day.

If they'll laugh at you, what on earth is going to happen to me?
I haven't finished LBA1, despite having had it for quite a while now.
LBA2 was a massive project which took me forever to complete.

We actually needed 2 years because we didn't manage to get to the tralu (we hadn't seen that switch and because of the ferry-bug we didn't know that we had to go there )

*agrees having played 375 hours of Battlefield 2142* (15 days non-stop alltogether) Of course, I didn't play it all at once non-stop

That game was well worth my £40

Hours? Days? Years? I completed LBA 2 in 1 hour 57 minutes.

Or wait, that was a speedrun.

I think you will raise your hand at least

My favorite GTA is San Andreas. I did it in every place at every moment of the game (bridges, beachs, hills).

GTA has some really cool weather effects too. Fog, rain, wind (something like tornado in San ANdreas time to time). They all contribute to create unique moments aside the story side.
But I'll kiss you then haha 'cos I thought I was all alone .

I can't wait for GTA4 and its beautiful sunsets!

(that's because I don't have any proper console)

Massive Bump!!

Apparently there's a new leaked trailer of BGE2

Check it out.

Thoughts??

I personally think the city looks pretty much alive, and that Jade's run remind me of "The Matrix".

(In case that's Jade, it looks very much like her)

I doubt this is in game gameplay footage. Something about the camera movement makes it a little too contrived for this situation. However, it does look like a better version of MirrorsEdge.

Yeah, it's a render! And where are the cute different races?! City looks awesome, machine guns don't.
It does however look like one of the runs from the Alpha's...

Looks very cool, but if that is actual gameplay it seems like it would be incredibly hard to keep moving at that pace.
