Well, if they were, kudos to Nintendo for taking 1996's shit and, yet again their MO, repackaging it as new and selling it to gullible customers everywhere.

hay, your the dude with the GTA4 avatar, not me.
A new game is a new game, theres no reason why it will be a repackage old game any more then the new ones are.
Unless your saying they are all the same except for the graphical improvements.

Yes, thats true, it was a big score for them indeed.

Still, its been a poor showing from both if the best we got is Microsoft ensureing that someone else dosnt have an exclusive.

Let's hope Sony does better this year. They can't do worse than 2006 anyway.

GTA on *real* consoles = epic win.

1996's GTA on a handheld, marketed as if it's showing Ninty finally has a "edge" = epic fail.

So you basicaly saying "new" GTA games are just the same, but with a graphical lick of paint?
Because you seem to be thinking that this new GTA is the same as a "1996s" one for that reason alone.

No. Not at all.

I think if Nintendo's goal was to appeal to hardcore gamers, put GTA IV on your main console, with motion controls, ala EA's The Godfather.

Having what will probably be a 2D game or top-down like the original GTA's is simply a recipe for epic fail, and does nothing for Nintendo's image.

Of course, when the one lady goes "This a cute game," regarding the throwing the frisbee shit, I was totally shocked and surprised to see a cute game from Nintendo, as if this was groundbreaking and innovative.

I didn't think it was possible...but Sony actually dropped a bigger turd than Nintendo thus far @ E3. Holy shit. What a terrible, terrible conference so far.

I really hope Sony comes up at some point with more killer apps for the PS3, I'm dying to buy and play MGS4 but my logic just won't let me buy a console for one game, especially at its current price.

Yeah after watching the gameplay video I changed from "It would be cool if two of my favorite games get a sequel" to "OMFG I'M THE FIRST IN LINE IN THE SHOP WTF I DON'T HAVE A COMPUTER THAT CAN RUN IT FUCK THAT LET'S JUST OWN IT FIRST!!!!!!".

I didn't really like the fact they made it very FPSish with only an option of playing it old school (well if it would be like Deus Ex it could be nice), but till now I haven't seen actual gameplay and I remember enjoying exploration in previous Fallout titles, and now the ability to explore in a 3rd dimension makes me happy.

Wow. 256 players per server.

That's going to be massive lag.

Final:

Microsoft: A-
Nintendo: D+
Sony: F

I'm not even going to respond to that.

They had some nice games, also liked what they did with the Little Big Planet presentation.

That would be two interesting games more than Nintendo showed.

But at least Wii music looks like it could be an alternative to Rock Band, and the new Wii Sports has some promise. I don't know. They focused on some games. Sony was too busy trying to push Home (which should have been out a month ago) and the video download service, which I could care less about.

Sony had good games, but it was the same good games they had since before the PS3's release.
Gezz.
What a dull E3 from first partys then.

Maybe E3's cutdown nature really put them off from announceing stuff here? Maybe they are saving it for Lipzeig?

Oh well. E3.
Lets see what the showfloor and 3rd partys bring.
Hopefully theres an unexpected gem or two coming from out of nowhere.

Who's to say its two-down or 2D? (they already had that on the gameboy colour!).

Payback on the GBA pulled of 3D, GTA-style gameplay just fine.
Sure, the framerate sucked, but it proved it was possible to do the gameplay on a portable.

GTA on the DS could well emulate full 3D. Its nothing beyond what, say, Zelda does. (Allthough I admit a stylised style suits the system much more due to the textures).

I think its quite jumping the gun assumeing its 2D. A decent developer can do decent 3D on the DS.

Allthough I wouldnt automaticaly say a 2D game would suck either.
2D with decent multi-layer paralax, lighting effects and decent textureing can still look kick-arse.
And even if it dosnt, the gameplay could still be superb.

Actualy, 2D overhead with a simerla quality graphics to "Another Code" could work. (another code was full 3D, but as it was locked in an overhead position, they could cut the polycounts hugely down).

Really? Thats odd.
When I went last year Nintendo showed bugger all, but they (as well as the others) all had very big area's.

That conference area was HUGE, 4 air-craft hangers worth!
There wasn't nearly enough content to fill it.

Come on Nintendo and Sony!
Lipzeig is closer to you

I think its more to do with timing anyway.
If theres a game ready to be announced they will announce it at whatever the nearest event is or if theres none near enough, they will just announce it anyway.
Maybe by the time lipzeig is on they will be ready to show what the hell half their big teams are actually doing!
(maybe in Nintendo's case they just invested all their money in a scrooge-mcduck money pool....
....promptly breaking their backs by diving in and are currently all in hospital)

I was at my work mate's place working and he suddenly said "now it's a Nintendo press conference at E3", so we watched it.

And actually, it got me quite interested in getting Wii and/or a DS. Which I actually might do, when I have more cash. The Animal Crossing presentation was fabulous, and there are obviously lots of good games out, especially for the DS (New Super Mario Bros). Also the light sabre fight looked interesting. But the other titles weren't that exciting, except GTA perhaps.

It was also interesting to see the sales statistics of the different consoles that the dark guy presented. I didn't know that the Wii was selling that well. It is really amazing, I remember a couple of years ago, in the Gamecube days - back then I would never had dreamed of Nintendo making such a comeback in the market!

I now looked up some of the other news at E3, and the XB game Halo Wars seems interesting, since it is developed by classy Ensemble Studios. Also Street Fighter IV (!) was presented. And Mega Man 9...
