I was watching a review of the virtual boy the other day, and my sister said that probably the same thing awaits the 3DS. We'll see...

The 3DS has already sold 4million within its first month - the virtual boy sold a well under a million total in its whole life.
Of course, it remains to be seen if the 3DS will sale over a 100million in its whole life like the original DS did.
----
Anyway...

I made online gallery of 3d images you can view on the 3DS;

http://www.randomreviewshow.com/3dsImages/index.html

Got our logo which I did in 3dsmax quickly, plus 3d screens from gamecube/wii games which someone made (I linked to the source too).

Its probably easier just to type randomreviewshow.com and hit the gallery link next to 3ds episode.

3DS stuff good, new console seems "meh"
I missed half hour of the show myself though, so not sure of the details.

Basicly 3DS;

Free Four Swords, plus a load of expected franchises (SmashBros, MarioKart,Mario3D,KidIcarus[with multiplayer and AR]).
One unexpected one was Lugias Mansion 2 for the 3DS, which I think could be really nice.
Also 3DS Demos confirmed.
(also 3rd partys have been showing of 3DS games like MGS3, but that wasnt on the conferance I saw)

Nintendo WiiU;

(yes, something that stupid.....cafe sounded better).
-Yes, its a big touchscreen slapped in the middle of a classic-controller like pad.
-HD and high end graphics of some sort.
-Can stream gameplay to the controller or use a tv, controller is touchscreen.
-Old Wii games and controllers work on it too.
-Some games accounted like SmashBros, but also a Lego game that seems almost GTA like.
-Will support video calling.

Other;
-New screens/videos/music from Skyward Sword, looks superb actualy.

My views thus far;
Frankly, I'm massively skeptical about the controller being remotely worth it. The split wiimote/nunchuck design is flexible for many things - this isnt, and goes backwards on what the Wii can do controll wise. (doesnt seem to have IR functionality, so thats worse for FPS imho)

Fortuntely the 3DS/Zelda stuff was all good so that soften the blow, but I certainly think Nintendo have miss-steped here.

Havnt seen any footage yet.

A few of the demos IGN mentions sound fun, but still nothing that sounds worth the sacrifice...or the probable cost...of this controller.

Theres a load more 3DS stuff mind, they are showcaseing it at the E3 itself though rather then their conferance.

"Lego City Stories"

(3DS/Wiiu)
Actualy, this could be quite fun. GTA+Lego basicly :P

Other Wiiu games;
*Darksiders 2
* Batman: Arkham City
* "Tekken" (also 3ds)
*Assassin's Creed
*Lego City Stories (also 3ds)
*Ghost Recon Online
*DiRT
*Aliens: Colonial Marines
*Metro: Last Light
*Ninja Gaiden 3: Razer's Edge

3DS Mario;
http://www.cubed3.com/news/15679

Nothing truely amazing, but it looks quite solid, using a few things not done in Galaxy.

Lego City Stories... strange concept. Strange concepts are always preferable, they provide innovation. I'll wait and see.

Layton 4.

Kirby Wii (not Epic Yarn)

Kirby Mass Attack (DS)

Paper Mario (DS)

There's also Mario Party 9 for some weird, weird reason.

Mario 3DS looks like the system's selling point for me.

Its nice that Layton4 is confirmed, it would have been stupid to skip over it.

Nintendos gone a bit Kirby nuts recently - not complaining if they are as good as Epic Yarn.
Still, for my platforming (2d) needs it looks like Rayman Origins is going to be the best thing;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvhwWXF-LfU
Ubisoft doing something right shock!

Paper Mario meanwhile is always a must get for me, even if SPM was a bit disapointing.

Anyway, Resident Evil Revalations for the 3DS;

Probably the best graphical showcase, little gameplay info though.

MGS also showcaseing Snakes new Pink look....

Darkflame, that Rayman origin's trailer is a year old.
Quote:
The game was officially announced at the end of Ubisoft's E3 2010 press conference as a downloadable episodic title [7] for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade with release on PC, Nintendo 3DS, iPad, and iPhone "to be considered".[8] The first episode was originally to be released by the end of 2010, but was delayed until 2011.[9][10] Following a dearth of information in the new year, the project was confirmed as alive in April 2011.[11] In May 2011, it was announced the title has been expanded to a full-retail title, with a tentative release of Q4 2011.[12]

I think it was a lackluster E3 in general, and the Nintendo presentation wasn't any better.

No real games to show for the WiiU - Stupid name, btw - It gave me the impression that the presentation of the system was rushed.

No mention of translated versions of those tasty japanese RPGs for the Wii - Last Story, Dragon Quest X, Xenoblade for America, etc -

No new Trauma Center. ;P

I think microsofts only real win was getting Chrispher Lloyd to advertise the Kinects free downloadable funpack.

RGaspar-your right, it badly needed full games to show the concept better. Even the announced stuff wasnt always clear if they were new, enhanced ports or what.
And yes, bringing some of those games to the west is needed. They were asked and basicly said they were still considering it.
That said, the Wii actualy was showed of with a lot less at E3. (not even concept demos).
I think Nintendos hugely in danger of people not seeing it as a new system - a lot of people dont seem to get the 3DS is a whole new console and thats despite a lot more obvious differences.

The 3DS was the only thing that really had things I was interested in, and even then less then I hoped.

Wii owners should be pleased to note that Xenoblades is making its way to europe later this year;

Well regarded RPG released recently in Japan, huge areas, no random battles.....looks amazing.

Check out the trailer;

I just watched some Xenoblade trailers today. The game looks impressive, very impressive.

I hope it has a strong story to support the outstanding scenarios, I don't want another Monster Hunter Tri D=

Little news for 3DS owners...and potential owners.
Nintendos going to slash the price by 1/3rd.

But not to upset early adopters too much, we are all getting 10 free NES and 10 free GB/GBA games to make up for it. (cant choose which, but still...)

Frankly, I count that as a win
(together with the free Four Swords, Nintendos not exactly giving me much incentive to buy games, mind :P).

Also, theres a nice Zelda Orachastra video on the eSHOP at the moment.

DF, I haven't followed closely, but I've heard people complaining that all black 3DS' manufactured have some sort of defect? Can you clarify at all?

I havnt heard anything colour-specific. (to be honest, that sounds really unlikely - cant see how paint would effect anything unless they are made at different factories).

There was a case where for a day or so Amazon stoped 3DS sales due to some complaints over the hinges "wobbling". They went back on sale pretty quick though.
The explanation was that some customers thought there wasnt supposed to be any slight movement in the hinge left/right, but Nintendo said this is intentional design.

Its hard to say if this is just Nintendo making excuse's or not. It seems common sense to me that there will always be some wobble on any hinged unit. Too tight and it would get hard to open (as well as probably being less durable - generaly things with a big of "give" are stronger).
That said, would people complain if it was just something so minor? After all, the DS,DSl and even the GBASP all dont have perfectly tight hinges either, yet I dont remember complaints about them.

Personaly mines been fine, but then, sample range of 1 isnt much to go on.

Suh-weet. Just as I was thinking that the 3DS's price was too high, it gets lowered. Now I might actually buy one... As soon as any game I actually look forward to getting is released. The console itself is awesome though.
