LBA Screen Viewer To LBA Package Editor - Export File Issue
Hello everyone.
It has been a very long time since I have been on the MBN. I have been looking every now and then, but have not posted anything for several months now. Anyways, as the title says, and as simple as it may sound, I am having trouble with LBA Screen Viewer. This has worked for me every single time I have used it, but for some reason, it just won't work anymore. I am using a 256 color bitmap, and exporting it to the LBA image format, but it won't work when I run LBA 2 with the file written over the other one in LBA Package Editor. The picture uses the same color pallete used in the game, but it just does not want to run the game with my picture over the original. I receive some kind of error code which says, "The instruction at 0040508a referenced memory at 00981038. The memory could not be read from.". I have received this same error many times, and if not, it is something very similar to it. I need help, and I know that there are some of you out there that can help me. I know what I am doing when I use a computer and its functions, but this is just ridiculous. By the way, if you all really wanted to know what I am doing, I am currently recreating all of LBA2's textures with more realistic looking textures by using Photoshop. I could give a sneak peak, but there are only so many textures over the other ones. I am currently on the LBA 2 model textures, such as what you see on Twinsen's medallion or the inventory. I will be trying to do as much as I can in free time that allows, and this could finally be something that is finished for good as far as LBA fan - based things are as happens nowadays. It is very unfortunate, but true. Here is the Photoshop file with all of the colors used in today computers' color palletes. ![]() Here is how it looks exported to LBA image format with 256 colors. ![]() Remember, only so many textures have changed. Most are located in the top right corner of the image. Again, I thank everyone, and I look forward to responses.

Remember, when converting down to 256 colors, it will count all colors, then use dithering or other methods (error diffusion in your case) to convert them down to 256.
Also, I hope you converted it to 256 colors using the LBA 2 palette.

I know it sounds naive that I have done this before, and now can't get it to work. Thank you very much, Battler. I appreciate your anwser. Yes, I converted the image to the LBA 2 palette, so it must have been the diffusion. I set my diffusion rate to full percent in Corel Photo-Paint X4 if that explains anything. I will try other wise and see what makes fit.

Can't remember the right steps but you need a indexed image with those 256 colours. The best you can do it's to use one of the tools we have and copy and past the image, and save it back. I'm sure our tools do that.
