The MBN calendar is open to everyone. You can add it as a personal event and everyone will be able to see it.

the vbulletin calendar thingy is a bit limited, you can't add arbitrary birthday like events.
btw... my readme says: June 26th, 1997 and the game itself says: Jun 19 1997 / 12:08:55 |

Its not the new that lasts. Its the old.
LBA2 was an awesome game and despite being old, it has a style that doesn't age.

Just look at LBA2.exe's "date last modified" attribute, that would be when LBA2 was official "built".

June 26th, 1997 is the one we have in the readme file. Although that file was last saved in 27th
![]() Well, there are many release dates around it and GameSpot says it is June 30th, 1997 ![]()

They could of been pre-releases or something like that.
Like pre-order. Some people get the game before others even see it in the shop. ah.. the joy of playing old games.. (Tried playing orginal Theme Park. - I completed a year as soon as I click the ok button) LBA2 was my favorite game ever. It still is, but I've played it enough to know practically most of it. I've even roleplayed on it before. I guess when I play it nowdays, I just record it and do something with the clips. - Before I was testing my imagination to what I could do with LBA2. I'm considering doing it again, if I can get LBA2 to work on 64-bit. (damn you 16-bit installers..)

Well, the official demo is dated May 25th, 1997, and the earliest known final version is the U.S. version, which is dated June 12th, 1997, if I recall correctly.
BTW, does anyone have a May 25th final version of LBA 2? ![]()

well.. we have to pick a date
So far we have the following dates: 1) timestamp reported by the game: June 17th 2) timestamp reported by the readme: June 26th 3) possible release date #1: June 30th (gamespot, gamespy, and some others) April 31st is in fact impossible, because it doesn't even exist. the release date of mobygames is also impossible because the files are dated june and not may IGN is also way off: http://pc.ign.com/objects/003/003040.html Please vote for either of the three in the new poll and the beginning of this thread |

guys, listen ... I've made a research through the LBA2 files and of ALL files, the oldest is dated 1 July 1997 so it's fair logical to say that the game was not released earlier than 1-07-1997 . I say we celebrate it on July the 1st

you mean youngest
my LBA2 cd has files dated up to July 17th, 1997 (autorun.exe) but I don't put a lot of trust in file dates Last edited by elmuerte; 2007-05-30 at 14:15. |

no no no El u don't get it . If u take the oldest file, then u can NOT assume that the game was released earlier ... how could the game be released on 17 or 26 or 30 June if a file was last modified on 1 July ? they didn't modify it using telekinesis

Will be difficult to choose a date like that, but since we don't have any sure about the release date I'm a bit concerned about using the website dates. So since lots of website don't have have this date for sure I think we must stick with the read me or engine date, and I'll pick the engine date for now, since was actually the last modification they did in the game.

that's what I was talking about ... the last modification means the exact date ( at least it's better than the other options )

anyway... file dates do not have to be correct. but besides that... we're not figuring out what the release date was, but the birthday of LBA2, and I think it should be the last engine modification. |
