You wouldn't believe how annoying this was for me at the time, but now it seems funny.

It was my first time playing LBA2, after it had just come out, and I was (of course) really enjoying it. I was getting through the game pretty quick, and was sure I'd have it completed within a few days. However, then I got to Otringal and suddenly I wasn't sure what to do. I knew I had to get to the upper city, and I knew that the casino was there to be solved, but I couldn't figure any of it out. Of course, getting the jetpack never entered my head . Instead, I did this: At the point where there is a chasm in Otringal (and a door with a ledge nearby) you are supposed to, as you know, use the jetpack to fly across and then again across to the other side of the chasm. From there, you can go to the upper city. However, after (literally) hours of trying, I eventually jumped across, without the jetpack. The reason I spent so long at it was because I had gotten so close a few times, and I was sure it would work. When eventually it did, Twinsen landed near the other side (but not quite on it) and it looked like he was floating on thin air. From there, I jumped the rest of the way. It was weird.
Anyway, I continued playing the game from there as normal, and reached what I think is CX island (with gas, or at least something that you cannnot cross). I was stumped, I really didn't have a clue what I was supposed to do. how was I going to cross this stuff?? And then, of course, it hit me. I didn't have the jetpack. And that was that. I left the game for a while, and then went back and completed it properly. It's been ages since I've played it now, but I still remember making the jump.

Hey, that was pretty long. Well, I don't have a copy of LBA2 at the moment (I gave to some guy I didn't know that well who has since moved and I don't know where he is, grrr)but I'm going to buy another and see if I can make that jump again. When I do, I'll send everyone the save game (to prove the truth!).

Ronan.
'Damn you, jetpack'

Yeah, thankfully I'm sure I can still get LBA2 here in Ireland as a budget title.

Wierd bugs that help...

Yeah, well I did exactly the same thing Ronan, except that I can't remember coming across the same problem with the jetpack Also, I can remember not being able get into that lighting spell room on citadel island (down in the sewers), I eventual found that I could jump from the bridge and just reach the roof of this room (something which I later found your obviously not supposed to be able to do) instead of dropping through the bar/cafe on the island...I always did wonder what the cracked heart and spell bottles wer'e doing smashed on the floor

I also played Beasts & Bumpkins for a week or something, I didn't really enjoy it.

I guess I'm the only one who played LBA2 "the normal way"
It took me a while, however, to find out that I had to use the jetpack to come across to the upper city... I thought I had to use my shovel on the wall to climb up I thought I read somewhere that the shovel was also able to help you climb up.
