Zoe Your Favorite PC Games... from the early 90's!

Yes, we're all tired of threads with "what's your favorite PC game of all time" and people will obviously mention LBA and others. But this thread is not about that. It's about all those little, unmentioned games that had been forgotten ever since you became older than 10 years old.

It's time to revive and feel the nostalgy.

Here's the place to list as many games as you feel worth being mentioned.
Let's discuss'em and talk about how great things were back then, when the world was pixelated and games with 320x160 and 256 colors was a luxury.

So put your PC built-in speaker on and buzzing, and let's get in the vibe.

(This idea came from Chaosfish's avatar, btw.)

Commander Keen : Needless to say how.... mega fantastic this game is.
From episodes 1 to 6, and keen dreams, this game has it all a platform games needs and really immerses you into unknown alien lands in the skin of a kid with a gun. What else does a boy need?

This is definitly my all time favorite of the genre.
PS: kudos for those who played it, and as you played, learned the intergalactic alphabet.

Prince of Persia : THIS IS A MUST FOR EVERY KID ON EARTH to play, even in 2050.
This is the classic. This is IT. This is action, adventure, puzzle, romance and swordfighting all in one!

Thrilled with magnificent arabian soundtrack (very innovative at the time), smooth and ultra-realistic animations (for pixels, man!), and packed with a main char with amazing agility, this can keep you hooked for hours and hours.

Remember to use some cheats to stop the damn clock, the only "fail" of the game. Annoying thing.

James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod
The wonderful adventures of a smoked fish made entirely of super-flexible chocolate. Save the penguins from the evil Dr. Maybe and his army of weird creature things. I LOVED THIS GAME. Probably my favorite old game of all times. But it's also an extremely long game, and there's no saves (not even passwords), so you have to finish it in one go which is impossible. So basically I never finished it, but it's still one of the best games ever.

Alley Cat
You're a CGA cat, and you have to survive in a CGA world. Sneak into houses, steal their milk, mice and fish, get to the female cat to make kitties, and beware of dogs.

Umm... I don't what I should say, I was born in 1991, so in the early 90' I played a very few games

LBA :
no description needed

Rayman :
The first one, fun platform game, I also loved a lot how Rayman looked like and used to mimic him when going home from my swimming lesson ^^

pretty enough, now that I think of it.

Prince :
already presented (I loved the sword fighting scenes)

Sokoban :
a simple game where you have to push crates into their place. Very simple and very hard !

I played it only a bit and only the first level though.

by the way, does these games have to be pc games ?

Well this thread is about games made at that time, which doens't necessarily mean you played them when they came out, you might have discovered them years later.

Yes.
Because I think PC games have a magic of it's own, and I wouldn't like to mix it with all of the videogames universe (mario, sonic, street fighter & co).
This thread focus on those little nearly unknown pearls forgotten in time.

Many Nintendo fans are also quite idiotic.

My favourite PC games from back in the day, hm. Being born in 1990 doesn't help that.

I'd list

Croc Legend of the Gobbos

and the classic Adventure games on the PC

The Secret of Monkey Island
Simon the Sorcerer (2 is what I played)

Early 90s?

Obviously it's a large part of the Apogee collection:
Commander Keen
Crystal Caves
Duke Nukem
Monuments of Mars

And then there are:
Dune II
Halloween Harry
The Lost Vikings
SimCity 2000
Jazz Jackrabbit
One Must Fall 2097
Quarantine

And hell yeah, Apogee was the best. Hocus Pocus, Mystic Towers, Monster Bash, oh, so many great games.

I could've been a bit more polite, though

Early 90s PC games: Haven't played that many. NHL 95 was a big favourite, as well as LBA. But they are more mid-90s, I guess. Sim Farm was quite good, as well as Capitalism Plus. Manic Karts was good.

Prehistorik : a platforming game that was on the comps of my school around 2000. You are with the prehistoric guy, and... That's pretty much everything I know, I've never been able to reach the second level
Spoiler:

you can click on the spoiler button, there's only images which are pretty big.

Yeah Prehistorik 2 is a classic, didn't go crazy for the first one.
Though I didn't like the fact that you got so close to the end of the game to find out you need to play the higher difficulty to continue.

If you play Prehistorik 2 today the intro screen says something like "Wow, people still play my game in 2010?"

I liked Prehistorik 1 better, the second game was too dumbed down. Although it was very nice as well.

You have that also in Titus the Fox (made by the same developer).
