Access #lba from MBN using webchat?

I just discovered this very convenient thing: http://www.mibbit.com/

And apparently it's embeddable, so why not making an IRC page at the MBN, so everyone can join the #lba chats with ease?

Well there's actually an official (I think it's official) mod for vb that adds a chat client to the forum anyway, which would be much neater if you wanted to do something like that. I seem to re-call El not liking the idea (I'm not sure about this either).

Give me one reason why not. There's already #lba Who's Online list on the MBN front page. And #lba is the official MBN chatroom, even if it's not officially official.

Is it the noobs? You're scared of the noobs? ...I bet you are.

Nowhere did I say your proposal was a bad idea...
I just mentioned I've seen an alternative.

EDIT: Here are some ideas, but none of these are the one I was thinking of, I meant something like they have at muse.mu.

Embedding an IRC client into the forum would be a great idea, imo. #lba needs life.

I'm all for it! Great idea.

As Medur said #lba needs the kiss of life.

no such thing as embedding a chatclient in the forum, it's just framing and offloading.
there are more than enough webclient available to connect to irc://efnet/#lba like the official efnet webchat: http://chat.efnet.org

Yeah, unless you wanted to make a new "chatroom", installed as part of the vb software (like I showed some examples of in my links).

Now I wonder, how do I add it in Pidgin? I still can't get the IRC-thing working on it.

I think a link to EFnet's webchat is enough, doesn't really make sense to add the actual applet to the main page, then you can't browse the forum in the same tab, or if there's some autojoin feature we'll have lots of clueless users joining every second.

Yeah, I was under the impression it'd be a link.

Mibbit is a lot nicer than EFnet's webchat.

I guess it would be okay to have a page under the magicball.net domain where you could log into irc?

Yeah, and a link to it from somewhere more obvious to find.
Then we could have this mibbit thing on that page...

Tested it and I never joined the channel.
Anyway, can you put a link somewhere easily found?
Like at the bottom, make the word "chat" a link to the chat maybe?

It came as silent as the link to it on the bottom of the index page. Oh wait, that doesn't exist, says elmuerte.

I suppose there's no way we could get our MBN nick to automatically be in the name box instead of mib_hksje3irjefoij ?
